ryananderson (74), Ontario, Canada Mar 29, 2006 Pours a large frothy head which turns rocky. Amber/orange colour with lots of yeast. Aroma is lightly hoppy and yeasty with average amounts of alcohol. Light to medium body with a dry alcohol finish. I found the flavour to be too acidic. Belial (60), France Mar 22, 2006 light orange fuzzy colour with a fair carbonation. White creamy head that doesn’t last too long. Rich and spicy aroma with a bitter aftertaste.
Drink it along a rizzoto or pork meat. SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 18, 2006 Hazy gold/bronze. Short lived, fizzy, white head. Very light aroma of yeast, rich malt, and light fruits. Flavor is rich malt with a touch of hop bitterness, yeast, light fruits, and some alcohol in the finish. Full, balanced body. Easy drinking, very nice. uclaw2007 (4), USA does not count Mar 18, 2006 Bottle. Nose jumps out of bottle. Pours medium orangish brown with small, short-lived head. Interesting blend of malt and strange, but interesting yeast. Yeast like no other: wild and moldy. Alcohol well hidden. Little short on palate and finish, but good beer overall. maeib (4683), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Feb 19, 2006 Bottled. A reddy brown coloured beer with a nice off white head. The aroma is massive; meaty and fruity. Thick and nose filling. Some burnt chocolate notes in there amidst the woodiness. The taste is absolutely gorgeous. Thick moussey fruits. Wood and chocolate. Exceptionally long finish. Big malty flavours with fruity hops balance in perfect harmony. I wouldn’t class this as a tripel but I would class it as World Class as a beer. hobgoblin (163), St-Épiphane, Quebec, Canada Feb 12, 2006 Bottle. Brown reddish color with thin whit head thats comes to a ring. Yeast and metalic aroma. Taste of malt, fruits and nice palate. Good carbonation but metalic taste.
Now this is a damn good beer.. found at Lee’s Liquor in town and picked it up because it was a Belgian I hadn’t yet tried. Immediate aroma from the bottle of a perfectly brewed Belgain ale. Poured with a creamy permanent head, pale golden color. Maybe not strong enough to be called a tripel, but the flavor definitely hits the mark-not too aggressive but just right. If you have the means, definitely give this a whirl. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 4, 2006 Bottle. Pours a murky orange with a large diminishing white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast, fruit and sugar -- it’s quite sweet but not overly sweet like I find some Tripels are. Flavour’s also sweet and yeasty along with some malt, fruit, spices (pepper and more) and a bitterness in the finish. -- tastes great! Hides the alcohol quite well. Medium bodied. Very good, I’ve yet to be dissapointed by St. Bernardus.
