Immediate aroma from the bottle of a perfectly brewed Belgain ale. Poured with a creamy permanent head, pale golden color. Maybe not strong enough to be called a tripel, but the flavor definitely hits the mark-not too aggressive but just right. If you have the means, definitely give this a whirl. blankboy (3201), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2006 Bottle. Pours a murky orange with a large diminishing white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast, fruit and sugar -- it’s quite sweet but not overly sweet like I find some Tripels are. Flavour’s also sweet and yeasty along with some malt, fruit, spices (pepper and more) and a bitterness in the finish. -- tastes great! Hides the alcohol quite well. Medium bodied. Very good, I’ve yet to be dissapointed by St. Bernardus. BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2006 Poured into the st bernardus bowl. Pours golden with a loverly cloud-like head. Aroma isnt as strong as some trips’ ive had, but decent and relaxing. Taste is banance, spices like clove and licorice, some citric sways and good clean yeast. Refreshing, but not as distinctly set as the bernardus stuff. Decent overall indeed. gilvanblight (390), Windsor, Ontario, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 1, 2006 Very nice pour with a nice lingering head. Lots of suspension in a very translucent orange/brown. Complex scent, herb, citrus, alcohol and more. Some warming alcohol in the taste. The taste varried greatly but finished with a shot of quick bitterness. A great Tripple. DYCSoccer17 (2189), Davis, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 31, 2006 750ML bottle purchased from Town and Country in W. Springfield, MA. Opens with a nice pop, but is not a gusher. Spicy, yeastly, banana, clove, ginger, sweet, citrusy lemon aromas are present. Moderately hazy blonde/golden color with a large frothy white head with nice lacing a good head retention. Start is quite creamy and sweet, turning a bit more caramel-like. Metallic hoppy notes are present in the finish, which makes this taste like pennies. This has good potential, but the metallic flavors really come out in the end and leave an unpleasant finishing impression. Cartoonkhaki (1150), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 30, 2006 Hazy golden brown with large white head. Sweet malty aroma, with a light musty yeatiness. Sweet flavour of creamy sweet pear, light alcohol hints... Oily palate... ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 22, 2006 I don’t support the commercial description on this one as the deep aroma and intense flavours of this beer certainly denied it any subtlety. Tasted from the bottle into a chalice, cool and not cold. Poured slowly, it produced a wickedly dense, 1", steadfast, pillowy white crown that left an abundance of lace. The body of beer a pale, sunny burnished orange, slightly hazy, with small speckles of yeast flattening out on the bottom of the glass. Easily photo worthy to look at. Potent, grainy and deep, gooey toffee and cream liqueur aroma leapt from the glass with softer notes of zingy tropical fruits like guava, passionfruit and pineapple giving it a nice depth of character. Quite similar in the mouth with sweet, gooey toffee malt and treacle notes upfront phasing into tangy and juicy apricot, orange and tangerine flavours that build up in the mouth to linger long afterwards. Back end has a lightly bitter, burnt sugar and woody, herbal quality that brings this tasty number together. Finish is woody, sweet and long with hints of dried spices, pine nuts and a touch of that liqueur warmth. Full bodied for style and smooth like a well aged strong ale, its only discredit being a touch of hot alcohol that comes out as it warms. This was a lovely slow sipper, not exactly a Tripel for the summer months, but well worth it as a winter warmer. Lovely!!! (33cL, 02/05/08, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)
