tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 2, 2005 Bottle from LCBO giftpack. Lots of streaming bubbles leading to a huge fizzy head with a mogul like frothy top. Dark yellow - looks perfect in appropriate glassware. Lovely spicy yeast aroma. Medium mouthfeel. Sweet spicy taste. Pepper notes, decent bitterness. Quite bitter as it warms actually. Lots of alcohol but never too much. Very similar to the St. Bernardus Tripel, maybe just not as complex and a little more straight forward. But very very good. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 30, 2005 Cloudy yellow or amber depending on the light. Frothy head. Aroma of wet leaves and a bit of citrus. Lively, well balanced flavor with a combination of malts, hops, and yeast. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Oct 29, 2005 yellow color with a pretty thick white head that seems to go until the end of the beer. taste is fruity slightly bitter and malty. refreshing, but towards the end the beer becomes kind of flat. not my favorite tripel, and no where near the quality of st bernardus tripel (i dont know the difference between these two beers.) not something id buy again, because i could buy st bernardus tripel. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Oct 29, 2005 Pours a hazy yellow with a white head that disapears quickly. Aroma is malty and floral. Flavor is very similar to St. Tripel. CampbellWilson (533), Scotland Oct 15, 2005 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy golden yellow with white diminishing head. Aroma quite malty for the style with honey, vanilla, slightly funky yeast and pineapply hop. Medium mouthfeel with soft finish. wunderbier (1264), Tampere, Finland Oct 15, 2005 Hazy medium gold hue with a medium sized, frothy, white head. Medium sized floaties. Bananas, cookies, sour dough, herbs, buttery muffins, and white pepper aromas. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic (sour), lightly bitter flavor. Moderately acidic, moderately bitter finish. Spicy, drying, long finish. Banana peel type astringency. Medium body, watery taste, fizzy carbonation. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Oct 10, 2005 Bottle. Orange-copper color, with lasting white head. Has small bitlets of particulate matter--aka floaties. Aroma is caramel, with slight citrus, slight yeast and slight spice. Flavor is malty and faintly fruity--banana, and a bit watery in the finish. bluevegie (2169), Perth, Australia Oct 4, 2005 Nice and soft in the taste. Murky orange straw body with a large white head. Light spice and some orange in the aroma. Lovely smooth malt in the taste, dusty, melon, banana and pear, quite good but just needs a bit more guts.
