Initial slight boozy aromas, earthy, woody, birch bark, nutty, cooked caramel, milk chocolate. Deep dark brown, somewhat cloudy, lasting tan ring of head foam. Dry, somewhat burnt flavors, slightly astringent malt profile with good hop bitterness, and a sweeter honey note to finish. Medium-full bodied, pretty strong.

Draught at CBC 2014. Light hazy ruby liquid with a medium off-white head. Aroma of raw sugar, oak, caramel and bread. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar and oak. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Weirdly sour. Infected?

At a tasting, thanks Stas, small bubbly head, hazy brown to very dark red color, aroma of peanuts, pencil sharpnings, some hay and caramel, caramel flavor with dark bread and a hint of dried fruits, light sourness. Drinkable but quite simple.

The aroma brings this down. Smells like butter and burnt sugar. A nice brown color. A decent beer, the flavor is a tad sweet but not too much. A nice somewhat sticky finish. A good beer; it just smells bad.

Bottle at Delerium Cafe in Rio de Janeiro. Medium brown with golden highlights. Breadcrusts and brown sugary malts, a touch of earthy leather. The menu had this listed as "smoked" for a style, but there really is little in the way of smoky character. Still a really lovely malty brew, and not a hint of the 8.4%.

12 ounce bottle purchased at Mercado de Ponta Negra in Natal. The aroma is sweet with lots of molasses, coffee, brown sugar. Some pale syrup is also present. Nice. Slightly transparent dark mahogany body with a medium to strong light tan head. Starts with a sweet, brown sugary flavor that is pleasant. Light peat comes through in the middle. More sweetness late, but not too sweet. Extremely drinkable. Fantastic brew.
