This beer is in another class, the biggest whiskey contribution I have tried, Amber, some head, plenty of malt but dominated by the extarction from the barrel

Draft sample @ Jackie O’s from notes. Pours a clear amber color with a slight soap bubble like head. The aroma was bourbon, vanilla, honey, caramel with hints of cherries. The flavor was again sweet caramel malts, bourbon, vanilla, honey with some cherry hints throughout. Smooth presentation, but maybe a touch too sweet even for me.

Sample during Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. Clear light brown pour with no head. Bourbon hits your nostrils right away, along with caramel, a bit of chocolate and some cherry. Flavor also starts with bourbon, then adds vanilla, caramel malt and cherries in the finish.

On tap at Jackie O’s during the Barrel Aged Beer Festival. Poured a hazy deep dark gold with a near white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was quite sweet with grain, vanilla and bourbon. Flavor was similarly sweet with lots of sweet grains, cereal, vanilla and a backing sweet bourbon.

On tap at Jackie O’s. Pours murky amber color with off white head. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, caramel. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor follows the nose and is a vanilla bomb. The vanilla dominates this beer more than any bourbon barrel aged beer ever. Tasty if you like that pure vanilla flavor. Good, just out of balance.

Sample at the brewpub, served in a snifter. The beer is a murky dark amber-orange color with a thin off-white head that evaporates to an outer ring quickly. Aroma of bourbon, dark malt and caramel. Full body with a boozy character and flavors of earthy malt, coconut, fruit and whiskey. The finish is rich and malty with a borderline harsh bourbon aftertaste. Above average overall.
