COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brown Stoat is rich deep brown in color and almost opaque. It is bursting with chocolate, roast and coffee-like flavors. Its firm bitterness compliments the rich malt flavors and creates a bittersweet quality to the beer. With average alcohol content, Brown Stoat is a moderately strong American-style ale.

July 17-19, 2008: Weasel Boy Brown Stoat Stout has a decent, but not great aroma. The beer is black with a khaki-colored head. The flavor is comprised of roasted malt, hints of cola, and finishes with coffee. Again, another okay beer...

Draught sample in Athens, Ohio during Ohio Brew Week 2008. Rating #10 for this beer.

Sample at Weasel Boy. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Roasty coffee aroma that you’d expect in a dry stout. Malty up front with a full roasty coffee finish. Pretty good for a dry stout.

This was a lighter stout than I expected from the description at the brewery, although that makes sense for a dry stout and this was by no means a bad beer. The body of the beer was brilliant even though it was black, which I thought a touch unusual for a stout. Minimal head, and a nice aroma...a touch roasty with some light coffee and toffee notes. Flavor was more of the same. Mouthfeel was dry, which was good. Solid, but didn’t exactly knock my socks off.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark black with a small tan head. Sharp aroma, of burnt toasted malt, dark fruits, chocolate, and coffee. Very sharp taste, of burnt malt, wood, chocolate. Lingering sharpness. Very nice stout.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours almost black with a medium and creamy khaki head that diminishes steadily. Patchy lacing on the glass. Roasty aroma with notes of malt and chocolate. Medium-bodied with a pleasant roasted character and flavors of malt, chocolate and coffee. The finish is dry and roasty with a coffee and sweet malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On tap Weasel Boy Brewing Zanesville, OH. Pours out a nice black with a small tan head. A nice sweet aroma of vanilla and coffee. Tast more of the sweetness I picked up brown sugar, molasses, and even a little cherry. A nice brew.

On tap at the Columbus Microbrew Festival. This is a great beer and was my favorite at the festival. I’d never heard of this brewer, but all the beers were good however this one stood out. Pours an obvious deep brown. Taste of chocolate and malt.

On tap at the Columbus Microbrew festival. Rich, roasty, creamy, vanilla, and coffee on the nose and flavor. Medium to heavy body. Really rich and good. The best beer of the festival for me by far.

long finish, chocolate, coffee, minimal head, brown, soft carbonation, full body, roasty, This brew is to me just all around good. I love it. Smells wonderful. It does not have too much of any one flavor/smell/feel. It tastes great alone or with food, salty food especially. Seems to taste even better towards the bottom of the glass, when it has warmed up a bit.
