On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of carob and sweet candy sugar. Flavor of maple, roasted malt, carob, and sweet brown sugar. Interesting take on a porter and though it sounds a little scary, was plenty drinkable. 6/4/7/4/14 [3.5/5]

On draught at the brewery, it pours the deepest mahogany with ruby fringes, a tan ring head that leaves spiderweb lace. The nose is malty with hints of grain. The flavors are of caramel toasted malt, roasts, esters and finishing with lightly roasted grains. The mouthfeel is light, with a round body and smooth palate. Subtle, soft carbonation activated with fruity esters and some maple syrup. Decent take on the porter here.

DrinkEmUpJones (1062) - Georgia, USA - AUG 8, 2010
Appearance is a candied black-brown with light off-white lacing. Aroma is medium-to-strong of candied fruit, brown sugar and molasses. The palate is full of molasses and dark corn syrup, with more corn syrup and brown sugar on the finish. A touch on the sticky-sweet side, but not too much. Delicious overall, and I’m sure I would enjoy it even more if we weren’t drinking it in 95 degree heat.

Nice as porters go, and evidently judging by how many people are drinking this one whenever I visit the wedge, it’s obviously a popular favorite.

Draft at Mellow Mushroom in Asheville. Loved it. Great roasty flavor, not too heavy... big thumbs up. I would drink the heck out of this if I lived there.
