On tap at wedge. Poured in a tulip glass... Appearance of a mostly transparent golden light orange hue and topped with a medium frothy white head... Belgian yeast phenols to coincide with orange peel, lemon, and a grassy backdrop... Flavors are sweet, somewhat phenolic with Belgian yeast, honey, and lighter citrus notes. Overwhelmingly sweet with a slightly earthy finish. Lighter bodied and makes a hard to drink beer a little more easy going.

Pours a golden-amber body with a fading beige head. Aromas of yeast and dough. Flavors are much the same with some citrus notes. Finish is slightly dry and doughy.

Draft at brewer 8.5% abv. The wife really liked this. Pours a gold with a thin white head. Scent is yeast and fruit. Taste is candy and fruit with yeast.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a white head. Aroma of light sweet fruits (apple, pear), citrus, and candi sugar. Flavor of alcohol, candi sugar, sweet fruits. Heavy but flavorful. Interesting tripel - not what you’d expect (less spicy/bready/yeasty and more fruity). Very enjoyable. 7/4/7/4/15 [3.7/5]

On draught at the brewer, it pours hazy golden with a foamy head that leaves thick, chunky soap lace. The nose is citric and yeasty, with some hay accents. Flavors are of honey, yeast, Belgian Candi sugars, light phenols, spices and finishing with a touch of dry spice and tiny alcohol. The mouthfeel is round and active, with a smooth body and drinkable palate. Another Wedge winner!

I’ll say one thing about wedge: They’ll keep you guessing! Both BA and RB has the ABV listed at 9.0%, though the printed menu at the brewery and large chalkboard both have it at 8.5%. Appearance: Pass across the bar counter a lightly hazed, pale-looking, yellow body with a smallish, white head. Smell: Most prominent in the aroma is the Belgian pilsner malts, married with notes of sweetish honey, peppery spice, citrus, and pear-flavored gum. Taste: Introduction of tangy-tasting pils malt followed with a sweet, toothsome taste of honey that, once picking up some alcoholic heat, develops into a flavor of honey liqueur. Minor contribution of bitterness and spice from the hops. Airy traces of pear juice, citrus, and bubble gum come and go. All the while, it’s got a deepening sweetish. Sweetish, warming finish. Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Personally, I’d prefer a skosh more dryness, though it’s still pretty good. Once the alcohol starts to kick in, it’s like continuously sinking into an overstuffed leather chair. I wonder if Wedge will ever produce a light, easy-going Belgian Ale named Smeagol.

Tap at Wedge. Pours a mostly clear golden with a white head. Aroma is big biscuit maltiness, sweet and bubblegum phenols from the Belgian yeast, some toast, lots of honey sweetness. Flavor is lightly herbal, lots of big biscuit and toasty malts, big pils and honey sweetness, doughy wheat thickness, and a sweet and herbal finish- not dry enough- a bit phenolic.
