Hazy copper color. Minimal head. Resinous, slightly sweet hop aroma. Great balance. Bitterness is present but not overwhelming. Well made.

Tasted on 7/28/12 on draft at the brewpub with Erika. Pours hazy dark orange with a thick white head that leaves average lace. The nose is spiced, caramelized orange peel, pine resin, and some caramel malt, with the earthy yeast aroma coming through nicely. The flavor is a nice balance of all of the above, a bit maltier than I expected with some bread. The body is medium with just below average carbonation and a long spiced orange peel bitter hops finish.

Location: Draft at The Admiral in Asheville, 1/2/15

Aroma: The aroma is pine hops, floral notes, some light fruit, and a little caramel.
Appearance: A slightly cloudy orange color, with a white head, and some medium lace.
Flavor: The taste leans bitter, with a lightly sweet balancing flavor as well.
Palate: It is medium-plus bodied, with average carbonation, and a dry finish.
Overall Impression: This one actually kind of grew on me. At first taste I probably would have had it lower in the 3 range, but after a pint I settled here.

My Bottom Line:
This classic 90’s IPA juxtaposes citrus fruit, caramel and hop resins in a chewy mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the misty dull amber.
-This is too sweet for my liking in IPAs.
-Oranges peer through often.
-This is quite drinkable.
-I guess I was expecting a brighter example for such a popular IPA !

On tap at the brewery taproom.

A hazed amber ipa with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light floral hops, grapefruit pulp, nice. In mouth, grainy caramel malt with light floral hops, grapefruit pulp, very intense, grassy character, nice. On tap at brewery.

Pours a hazy golden brown on tap with dissipating white head that leaves little lace. Aroma is mostly malt with a hint of pine and floral hops. Taste follows, definitely an English style IPA. Mild bitterness, low carbonation, kind of bland.

Dark Orange cloudy pour from draft at wedge brewery. White sticky head. Earthy tropical aroma. Big citrus tangerine and apricot taste. Perfect balance of hops bitterness and fruits. Love it

Draught at the Wedge, Asheville, NC. Hazy mid-brown colour with a tiny off-white head. Sweet malty and mild floral hoppy aroma with fruit tea like notes and lots of sweetness. The flavour is sweet, hoppy and malty. Mild bitterness. Very sweet. Way too sweet for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
