On tap at the brewery during RBWG 2014. Pours a hazy amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has an earthy citrus with a bit of pine and a sweet bread backbone. Flavor has a nice pine and sweet bread combination with a bit of grapefruit underlying as well as a touch of booze.

phaleslu (6295) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 22, 2014
Draft in a taster at the brewery. Had this right after Iron Rail, which I guess was appropriate. Pours a cloudy bright orange- actually clearer than its lighter counterpart- with an off-white head that laces the glass. Notes of citrus fruits, caramel malts, pine resin, florals, and nectar. Medium-bodied, with a chewy, resinous mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. As with Iron Rail, I liked this better than I expected. Good imperial version.

Draft to taster at Wedge during RBWG. Looks good; a fairly transparent dark orange with eggshell lacing. Smells sweet, hoppy, and malty. Tastes like it smells with a nice moufeel. A good example of the style.

Dickinsonbeer (5077) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JAN 24, 2010
Tap at Wedge. Pours a hazy medium to deep amber with a thin lasting white head. Aroma is similar to the regular IPA- lots of amarillo- mango, tropical, with some columbus - dankness, resiny- medium sweet honey and caramel malts. Flavor is resinous hops, sweet and fruity hops, peach, mango, pear, green raisin, honey and pine and dankness- a bit too sweet for a DIPA, but overall it is nice.

Suttree (5073) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 30, 2009
Brownish orange, with a nice beige head. Huge piney citrusy caramelly nose. Rich and almost decadent palate. Mostly piney bitterness on top of caramel, toffee malty flavors. Perhaps the experience is enhanced by sitting at the brewery and watching trains go by on a crisp Fall afternoon, but I really liked this brew...
