Must have local beer from Asheville, NC. Exceptional DIPA. Beautiful reddish-orange beer with a sweet vanilla-white head...gorgeous! Nice sweet citrus and pine flavors with a massive hop-bite finish...oh yum! a stronger cousin to the Iron Rail IPA(also an exceptional ale). This IPA has definitely been workin’ out and may be on steroids! Go to the brewery tasting room, get comfy, eat free peanuts and feed some to Ozzie, the bar’s Australian Shepard(he cracks them & gets out the nut). It don’t get any better than this!

Draft at brewer. Dark orange pour with a beige head. Scent is big pine hops, citrus and caramel. Taste is pine and caramel with an earthy note. Very good DIPA.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This poured a dark orange with a white head. Aroma contains some citrus, perfume, and alcohol. The flavor contains some oranges, pine, lemons, and grapefruit. Some sweetness is present. This is one big badass beer. Aftertaste is bittersweet and boozy. Overall kick arse.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark crimson. Mild aromas of bread malt and dried/candied fruit like figs, cherries & currant. Macerated cherry & raspberry on the palate. It’s very good, would especially be good in the fall, BUT, not a lot of hops?? Definately not what I"d expect from a double IPA. Obviously a less pungent hop was used here than the standard Cascade, etc. Not what I expected, but very, very good.

Warm orange color. Advertised as an IPA/barley wine. Smells like a typical IPA. Flavor is floral and bright. Much more IPA than barley wine

A fantastic double IPA from this funky and unassuming (and my personal favorite) local (Asheville) brew pub. If there’s anything I could find fault for it might be that I would wish for just a bit more sweetness in the malt profile to balance the hop abundance--but that is not to suggest this is unbalanced. For a brew pub brew, this is superlative. There’s nothing finer than sitting in Caroliner on the porch of this wonder pub and sipping one or two of these. Just wish they’d let me take home this stuff in a growler!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Brownish orange, with a nice beige head. Huge piney citrusy caramelly nose. Rich and almost decadent palate. Mostly piney bitterness on top of caramel, toffee malty flavors. Perhaps the experience is enhanced by sitting at the brewery and watching trains go by on a crisp Fall afternoon, but I really liked this brew...

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy golden orange on tap with fluffy white head and good lacing. Aroma of heavy hops, citrus and pine, with a slight caramel malt on the back end. Taste follows, incredibly bitter finish, in a good way, and a sweet undertone that hides the alcohol dangerously well. I could drink a lot of these when they are fresh like at the brewery.

Beer 23 Asheville trip. Medium to light slightly hazy orange with a nice head. aroma is a load of bitter citrus and pine hops, caramel notes. Flavor is a match. Pretty much a textbook IIPA. Liked this one as well.

on tap @ Wedge Brewing --- Clear dark amber. good head cover, splotches of lace. Sweet caramel malt is joined by medium citrus hops and sweet toffee in the palate for a tandem ride to an long, extended finish. Absolutely terrific balance, well designed, very satisfying, highly drinkable. Be careful: alcohol is deceptive. Whoosh!
