OldGrowth (1282), Cary, North Carolina, USA Apr 28, 2008 Bottle, from the now closed Manteo location. Good aroma, Sweet. Yeasty, nutty. damp autumn leaves turned little more of a grassy sourdough as it warmed. Clean orangy golden color, Good head, faded quickly, good lacing. Bitter sweet flavor, bitter, grassy toasted malt flavors. Lite body, thin creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Good Helles. Went down easy. Man I hung on to this one a while, bought it last July. I dunno if this is bottle conditioning at it’s finest or the fact that this was kept in a fridge at 48 or so degees the whole time or both. Good job.
epf33 (155), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Sep 26, 2008 quite a bitter beer, nothing bad about that though, love how it comes in a stein bottle taalhiker (111), Dayton, Ohio, USA Sep 1, 2008 Bottle. Brought back from Outer Banks vacation. I love the Black Radish and Altbier, but the Corolla Gold disappointed me. Nothing stuck out as bad but not a memorable beer. radagast83 (1071), Springfield, Virginia, USA Aug 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear golden color. Aroma is malty. Flavor is quite similar, with a slightly sweet light malt flavor. Extremely refreshing and quite enjoyable. MaltDawg (369), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 15, 2008 1/2L bottle from the brewery. Mostly clear golden with slight white head. Aroma of carmelized malts. Flavor is slightly sour with a bit of pale malt sweetness and some fruity notes, a grainey finish with just a touch of some hop bitterness. mbgrayson (53), Anaconda, Montana, USA Jun 14, 2008 Not one I would buy. I was given a glass, and it has too much bite and bitterness for me. We had a large bottle directlkly from the new brewery location on the drive from Norfolk to the Outer Banks.
