12oz. bottle: This beer comes out of the bottle a somewhat orangish color. But the head: was it huge. I even had this beer foaming out of the bottle after opening. All of the examples in the sixer were the same. The aroma is somewhat sweet, with notes of caramel and nuts. A somewhat smokey/musty quality to it also. The taste is good: Sweet caramel malt and a little nutty. Good once the head died down.

Poured a hazy orange copper color with a small off white head and very light lacing on the glass. Sweet and malty, nutty aroma. Taste also was sweet malt, more caramel and nuts, and light carbonation.

Bottle. Orange and clear with a white head. Clean malty aroma. Flavor is malty, but thin. A little blande. Malt flavor fades quickly.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2006 A good session beer. Healty carbonation with a large head. Nice caramel aroma. Copper in the mouth with caramel malt and fruit hues. Dry, thin finish. Not extremely complex, but decent for Oktoberfest!

Copper color, nice fluffy head leaves a clean glass. The caramel sweetness is in perfect balance. Light on the tongue. Crisp and decent.

Bottle. Amber colored with fairly rapidly diminishing white head. Has malty aroma, with a peculiar odor--some kind of weird sweet smell. Flavor is malty and saccharin. Too sweet. Makes you mouth draw up. Malt flavors are unbalanced and this could definitely use more hops for a balance. Oh well, it is drinkable, and tastes better as you get used to the sweetness.

Mediocre in every way. Lacked real hops character of any kind. Decent head. No particular reason to buy this beer rather than any other random microbrew. Note that this was in a bottle sampled in North Carolina (which has a bunch of stupid, commie regulations for alcohol content in beer). Perhaps the draft version of this beer sold outside of NC is a whole different story.
