2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
September 2012. Sampled at the brewery over a German lunch. For a Hefeweizen, this is not bad at all, especially when paired with the right food. Refreshing, bit acidic.

On draft at the brewery restaurant. Surprisingly clear light gold. Ashy smell. Faint citrus and band aid. Not a good example of the style.

12oz bottle. Poured a golden hazy color with a small white head. A light grainy wheat, citrus and clove aroma. Taste was smooth, clove, banana, coriander and oranges. A strange bitter flavor throughout. Low carbonation with a moderate body. A better Weeping Radish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 mL bottle from World Market in Raleigh. I’m pretty sure this is not what the brewer intended for this beer since it is nowhere near a hefeweizen. I’m guessing there is either an infection or this one has aged to the point of being something completely different. Since this is often the case of how you find Weeping Radish beers, especially in the Triangle area, I will continue with this rating. Hazy golden pour with a thin white head. Very sour aroma that completely overwhelms anything else. Immediately I know that something is off. Flavor is of orange, pear, and cherry. It almost seems as if the beer is in conflict with itself; it is supposed to be, and started as, a hefeweizen but now is way past its prime. I really don’t think this is all that bad as whatever style of beer it has now become but as a hefeweizen it fails tremendously. Again, I’m sure this is much better fresh as the brewer intended but unfortunately this is all too often the case with this brewer that the beer is past its prime.
