Medium-bodied; deep gold to light amber in color. A relatively pale, strong, malty lager beer. Traditionally brewed in December and stored to celebrate the coming of springtime and the month of May. ABV 7.1% IBU’s 31.5 SRM 9.4

22oz bottle (Old Notes)-Pours a very dark golden/light amber with a small head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and hops. Taste of malt, caramel, hops, and slight spice. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and goes down smooth. I am not a fan of this style but this beer is darn tasty.

Pours a hazy copper-orange with a thick frothy white head. Head slowly fades leaving plenty of lacing. The aroma is reserved, fruity with slight malt and yeast smells. The taste is sweet malt with some sourness, hints of pepper. There is some lingering hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Pleasant but not outstanding.

Bottle. Copper bodied. Small white head. Nose is fruity and malty and sweet smelling. Some yeast, some caramel and some candy in the nose as well. Taste is malty and sweet with yeast notes, fruit and caramel. The yeast is more pronounced than most maibocks. Body is medium with soft carbonation. The finish exudes more yeast, chewy malts and caramel while reinforcing the fruit flavors and some grains. Not bad but different than I expected.

On tap at trio in the outer banks it is an amber color with a slight head. The aroma is indistinguishable. The taste is thin with no outstanding flavor maybe some caramel

Dark brew with a aroma of hops and malt. Very fruity with hops and malts to accompany the taste. Good finish.. too bad NC has a ABV law....good beer

On tap, they are currently calling it a maibock. Nice appearance, but not much head surprisingly. Not much in the way of aroma. Sweet malts rise to the front, with a slowly diminishing hop finish. Not bad, especially considering I am not at all a fan of bocks.

Keg @ Weeping Radish. Copper color with a tight creamy white head. Sweet marzipan and caramel toast. Relatively robust malty character. The Nutty caramel flavor isn’t helped by the presence of distinct stewed vegetable. Medium body, a touch oily. A few sips is enough.
