Dark brown with a giant mocha head. Caramelly, toffeeish, slightly earthy nose. Sweet, with light toffee notes and a fairly sweet character. Decent, nourishing brew similar to a schwarzbier.

Draft at beer bar near hotel in Nis. Dark, very dark, with thick creamy tan head. Aroma is big on the carob, and actially so are the flavors. 6,7
Reminesnt of pasteli, as well as cola. Body in the right spot not too light or too heavy. No flaws as far as I can detect, and fits a good pocket.

33cl bottle, Serbia. Huge, brown head, breadish smelled, but it is diminish quickly. Taste is nice, roasted malt, with some earthy hop and a little chocolate. Not sweet (it is good). It is a quickly finished, light bodied beer.
It is good for drink, but a little pricy.

This beer invokes a range of pleasant connoisseur associations such as butterscotch or even honey pie, combined with a refined bitterness. Strong but not heavy and still not very popular, it grants you an opportunity to appear a bit extravagant if you order it. Probably the best beer in Balkans.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marko (3635) - Split, CROATIA - SEP 5, 2011
Thanks to Milan for saving this one for me! This poured hazy dark brown body with a big, collapsing tan head. Interesting nose, light chocolate, dust, a nice herbal note, slightly acidic. Smooth raisiny taste, some chocolate, light hop, balanced in general. Not much aftertaste. The best Serbian macro beer I reckon.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 heavy (1989) - Split, CROATIA - AUG 30, 2011
20/08 A 0.33 l bottle a friend gave to Marko, thanks to both of them! Glad to see those again around. It poured dark brown reddish body with medium sized brown head. Weak roasted aroma, caramel and a bit coffee. Lighter caramel flavor, unpleasant metallic at the beginning while later I could feel some fine coffee and rounded biscuit notes. Medium to thinner in body with fine, but short finish that shows some milk or cappuccino notes beyond thins mentioned in flavor. Not bad, though is not too special indeed.

Thanks to luttonm for bringing this one home from the Balkans for me -- always fun to try crazy things I’d never find myself. Pours a deep brown, with a tan head. Smells like an odd blend of a decent porter with a cheap Latin American lager. This is really strangely drinkable. Sort of refreshing, in a way. It still has tinny overtones of cheap lager, but has a few other things bouncing around (roasty malts, a bit of grape) and a lively carbonation that keep it interesting. I’m not sure what the "ideal rate of thickness" is, and I’m not sure this would qualify as ideal anything, but it’s far more intriguing that I expected, and I’m actually enjoying it.
