COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full rich bodied, hoppy, seasonal lager. Especially brewed for the Festbier season. This beer truly represents the Bavarian way of celebrating. Deep gold color, great mouthfeel and lots of flavor. Prost!

Pure but mild aroma has slightly earthy malting. Clear straw, creamy white head is dense but short. Taste has also bit zcech feel: butter, grass. Medium body, soft feel, easy to drink, nice palate, some bitterness. Basic, pure and simple easy-to-drink beer. As that works nicely.

Pours a clear straw golden with a thick eggshell head that leaves some nice thick dripping lace. Nose involves some fresh hoppy citrus notes, spice, doughy yeast, and cellar notes. Somewhat sweet, fairly bitter. Light-medium body, creamy, tingly, with a nice bitter hop finish. Very light in color for a marzen, but a nice drinkable brew.

Nice creamy lasting head. Aroma is funky barnyard & horse blanket(?). Taste is more grassy, with just a touch of citrus, sweet malt, finishing with a nice dryness. I actually really like this. Perfect for a nice warm Aussie summer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a deep golden with a lasting, yet soapy, off-white head. Aroma is of spicy mittlefurh and fresh biscuits. The body is med. with med-lt. CO2. Somewhat sweet with a drying finsh. The flavors are beautiful, sweet biscuity malts. Some lemon-grass and pepper from the hops really rounds out an otherwise sweetish beer. The bitterness in the finish gives a very nice refreshment to this very palatable German brew. No SO2, no H2S, no diacetyl. I don’t really know what the rest of you want in a present day octoberfest. Really nice beer.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2008 Wow, the average on this beer is far too low. Pours pale yellow with a sudsy soapy white head. The aroma has pils malt, lemongrass, light breadiness and grass. Medium / light body with a grainy feel and gentle carbonation. The flavor starts with pils malt, light sweetness, grassiness and spicy hops. the finish is spicy and refreshing. A nicely constructed helles. (7/3/7/3/15 -3.5)
Rerate notes: This has to be a different beer that what I had last year ~ now it is definitely a marzen. Pours light golden / orange with an off-white head. The aroma has lightly sweet caramel malt with the distinctive o-fest traits, but it seems more subdued and dry. Medium light body that is more crisp than normal for the style. The taste is in lie with the aroma & is far more drinkable to me that most marzens due to the dryness and some noticeable hops on the finish. A good beer & very nice for the style.

I get the lemongrass aroma, and pilsner aroma. Has a great balance of malt to spicey pilsner bitter. I guess that’s the helles profile. I don’t get the breadiness. It’s got a contrasting sweet and dryness. moutfeel is full but w/ small refreshing bubbles.

A surprising find in my motherinlaws stock. Clear gold with a short lived white head. Hoppy and malty aroma with a touch of spice in the background. Slight sweet with a touch of citrus in the flavor. Very nice

Bottle, pours a hazy golden yellow with minimal amounts of blotchy white suds atop. Looks very inviting. Nose is grassy and slightly sour lemon. Flavor is a gentle sour note.. citrus (lemon and tangerine) and malt undertones. Mouthfeel is medium to medium light. Finely bubbled and highly sessionable, very accommodating to the style though this brew could be argued to venture into the realms of a wit and hefe. Finish is long and sweet, sour, then dry. Highly Underrated @ 2.91/5.0

Huge white head. Leaves ample lace. Crystal clear. Straw color--perhaps light for the style. Surprising earthiness to the smell. Also, slightly skunky (despite the brown bottle)--no date on the bottle. Slightly sweet. Partially dry, but with sweet undertone; is that possible? Round mouthfeel with a neutral amount of carbonation. The flavor has some sour elements that peak at the swallow. The aftertaste has some definitive peppery hop. This is a superior Marzen in many ways.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2014 This beer is quite photogenic thanks to its golden body and fluffy, white head. This Oktoberfest smells like barley and hops. The taste is surprisingly understated but has smooth grain notes and refreshing, clean hops. This is a beer that wants to be gulped. While not as flavorful as other brews in Weihenstephaner’s shining inventory, this is still an extremely satisfying lager.
