DeadGirl (192), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Jul 8, 2009 Updated: Oct 18, 2009On tap at Rattle ’N’ Hum (Midtown, NYC): the aroma gives off a strong banana and spicy clove feel, but the balance is perfect. Tastes similar to the aroma. Smooth finish, banana notes from beginning to end. Some cinnamon... But overall a chewy feel- definitely not like a crisp pils. Totally opposite and thats what I love about it. #055 on 08072009, DG. alagnak (301), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jul 6, 2009 Clasic hefe appearance, big fluffy head that takes forever to dissipate. Smells classic wheat and light underlying fruit. taste is heavy wheat and just a hint of the classic banana flavor in the background. Light spicy finish with a touch of hop character. Overall - just a great, balanced Hefe. chrisv10 (336), Denmark Jul 6, 2009 50 cl bottle. Cloudy orange body with medium size white head. Flavour and aroma is yeast, wheat and banana. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Jul 6, 2009 16oz bottle. Awesome yeasty banana aroma with hints of spicy clove. Poured the traditional way (half glass, swirl then pour the rest) it yields a cloudy gold brew with a thin fizzy white head. Carbonation drives forward big yeasty wheat notes with dashes of caramel, clove and cinnamon and tons of banana and bubblegum, slight grass hops on the backend. Complex and layered. I don’t think there are even many german hefe’s that are better than this. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Jul 4, 2009 Bottle. Poured a dirty gold with a big creamy head. Aroma of wheat, clove and banana. Aroma was nice, bot would have liked more. Flavor was again not as good as expected, but perhaps I had too high of expectations. That being said, it was quite good for the style and nice on a warm day for sure. Wheat, some banana (not enough) with a dash of clove/spice. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 30, 2009 12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours out a hazy, dark-hued, golden body with a tall, airy, whitish head.
Smell: Vibrant, aromatic scent of wheat malt, ruthlessly mashed bananas liberally seasoned with vanilla sugar and clove, and even lemon peel.
Taste: Sweet, tangy taste of wholesome wheat malt. What follows is rich, full flavors of ripe bananas, vanilla cream, and fresh cracked cloves. Small, meager spritz of lemon juice. A few added shreds of Big League Chew. One slice from a Red Delicious apple. Very light Noble hop character and bitterness. Just the perfect amount of overall spiciness to the taste. Finishes dry, crisp, with one final taste of malted wheat.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel, yet it remains nicely effervescent.
Drinkability: Terrifically drinkable, really! I cleared through my twelve ounces with record speed as this makes for delightful early-summer refreshment. Halberg (2), Olklubben07, Denmark does not count Jun 30, 2009 Bottle: A beer among my favorites. The flavor is nice and the appearance is just beautiful. chopra (12), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jun 27, 2009 Cloudy orange, fluffy white head that falls quickly. Flavor is spicy wheat. Very drinkable and refreshing, a classic hefe.
