Found this gem at Leo’s in South Point, OH and I only had to wait for one of those summer scorchers to crack it open. The special yeast is the most noticeable part of this brew, with a heavy banana and clove presence that goes down like water and doesn’t coat the mouth. Almost like a Kolsch with a beautiful yeast strain. Two thumbs up. Lubiere (4480), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2009 A hazy orange gold weizen with a beautiful thick and frothy head. Aroma of bananas, cloves, cinnamon and light lemony notes. In mouth, a nice refreshing weizen with nice sweetness, fruity esters, more berries than bananas. Medium bodied. Bottle from LCBO. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very nice looking hazy golden color with a giant frothy white head. Aroma of clove, banana, and a hint of citrus. Flavor is nice: spicy banana. The flavor does end rather abruptly though with a slight citrusy bitterness. Very nice beer. Refreshing and easy to drink. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2009 Bottle Pours a hazy straw color with a generous white head. The head lasts well. Has a good aroma of wheat and sweet fruits. Has good carbonation. The flavor is not as sweet as I thought it would be, it is muted nicely by light bitterness and nice hints of spices. This is well balanced. Has a dry texture. I would give it a light body. Has a good finish with a nice aftertaste. This is a easy drinking good beer. Citrus and wheat notes on the nose. A very good, well-balanced beer. Mild bitter finish and a very good hefeweizen - Cheers! monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 9, 2009 Pours a cloudy orange with a glorious, soapy white head that lasts for ever. Aroma is yeasty, clove, banana, and a faint hint of spice. Flavor is same with slightly more spice. Moutfeel is light and crisp, and finishes clean. This is the best hefe I’ve had. Slightly better than the Hacker imo. A new favorite.
