Commercial Description:
Nothing refreshes you more than this naturally cloudy wheat beer with its wonderful yeasty fragrance and taste. Goes well with dishes that do not have too intensive a flavour, especially that Bavarian speciality 'Weisswurst' or white sausage.

Cloudy golden-yellow, large lingering white head, good lacing. Aroma is very yeasty, lots of bananas, oranges, wheat, perfume. Flavour is of perfume, floral hops, tons of yeast, lots of bananas. Yeasty mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long, yeasty, dry.

Incredable amounts if yeast and must in this one. Very refreshing, highly drinkable.

500ml bottle purchased from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario.
Opened on February 26, 2009.
Best before March 4, 2009.

Poured into a weizenglass. Has a cloudy orange color with a white head that initially fills basically the whole glass. After A while the head dissipates a little and has an appealing rocky structure. Some lacings. Lots of malted wheat and barley with notes of spices and banana in the nose. Hints of lemon and light phenols. A rather soft but prominent malt presence of barley and wheat dominates the flavor. Lots of white bread and crackers. Well balanced flavors of banana and spices (cloves) take over in the middle. Notes of yeast with an earthy twang. The finish is gentle and a bit short with lots of mild spicy notes, some phenols and a light fruitiness. A minimal taste of alcohol in the finish as well. No real bitterness. Medium body, not very crisp due to the gentle carbonation. This is a hard beer for me to review since I generally have a problem with hefeweizens - I don’t really like the style. I’m often underwhelmed by their flavors, short finish and mouthfeel. That being said, I think this one is quite good and I can see why it’s conceived of as a real classic. It has a well balanced character, and both spices and fruit esters are pleasant and kept at bay (in some hezeweizens they are too prominent in my opinion). Easy to drink and refreshing, but it’s not very interesting or exciting. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

A: Poured with a nice large, white frothy head that hung around for quite awhile and left excellent lacing behind. Body was cloudy, almost murky, and a dark orange color. S: Great aroma of lemon, orange, light yeast, wheat, and pepper. Lots going on here. T: Nice flavor of wheat, citrus, and spices... the pepper in particular is quite prevalent (say that three times fast). Short duration, which is normal for a hefeweizen. M: Medium-bodied and quite creamy, with average carbonation. D: Hell yeah it’s drinkable. You could put these back all night and never get sick of them. An excellent hefeweizen, and a damned good session beer.

To me this beer defines a Hefeweizen. All other brews of this style should be compared to this one, and in my honest opinion I’ve yet to have one live up to Weihenstephaner. There are many out there that come close, but this beer is the only true liquid of the gods!

Pours hazy straw color with billowy white head. Aromas of clove, bananas and wheat. Similar flavors with some yeast, citrus and a touch of sweetness. Light to medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and average carbonation.

Bottle. Cludy straw colour with huge slightly off white head. Slightly sweet aromas with plenty of cloves and citrus. Lots of yeast also. Flavours are much the same with plenty of meatiness. Great example of the style.

bottle - I was sligthly disappointed by the aroma as I expected a sharper nose on this brew, it was quite faint. Otherwise, a great blend of banana and citrus flavor with cinnamon biscuit undertones. Balanced taste. Great Weizen!
