homeslice (36), , California, USA Feb 13, 2009 Murky dark apricot with frothy thick white top, opaque. Smells of ginger, oranges, lychees, and strawberries. Tastes of berries, ginger, and vanilla. Mild and bitterless. Might be better in cold temperature. Nebulor (109), , California, USA Feb 13, 2009 Pours an unfiltered apricot color with a minimal off white head and is active.
Lots of banana malt smell with a beerish aroma.
The taste is wheaty with hints of banana and vanilla.
This light bodied beer has soft carbonation.
Very drinkable. Archibaldo de la Cruz (394), Finland Feb 13, 2009 Bottle. Hazy dark yellow colour with a huge white head. Banana, yeast and wheat in aroma. The flavour is sweet, banana, yeast and wheat. Well-balanced and very tasty hefeweizen. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Feb 12, 2009 Pours fairly ugly peach color with quickly dissipating head. Aroma of pear, apple, peach, lemon, and a good amount of wheat. Flavor is not too sweet, with notes of peach, pear, a nice dose of lemon, cinnamon, coriander, and wheat. Palate is fairly full with a semi-dry finish. Not bad. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 10, 2009 Updated: Sep 10, 2009The classic weissbier, never disappoints. Cloudy golden color with a nice white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, banana, and clove. Typical light wheaty flavor, yeasty, refreshing, fruity, with clove and banana. Very refreshing. Always a good call (unlike Miller, which claims this, but is a terrible beer). j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Feb 6, 2009 Mini growler from Half-Time. Pours a hazy light amber with a good sized white head. Nose is citrus and wheat, almost a little clove spice, and a good amount of banana and yeast. Carbonation is subtle, mouthfeel is medium but light. Slight sweetness leads into a light crisp yeasty finish. mnovacanes (48), Munster, Indiana, USA Feb 6, 2009 Updated: Apr 9, 2009Appearance: Textbook, enormous, white head; darker orange color; moderate haze
Aroma: Like banana bread with cloves; very typical, nothing out-of-the-ordinary
Flavor: Better than Ayinger; better balance; good banana and clove flavor with a stronger wheat, some vanilla, and subtle citrus; Complex
Palate: Nothing to complain about; Long, enjoyable finish; wheaty creaminess CptGreencoat (68), Kettering, Ohio, USA Feb 5, 2009 (I had a Double IPA before this, so my taste buds are a little shot.)
Pours to a pale, cloudy amber with light, quickly dissipating white head that laces the glass with a medium grip. The nose is pure spice and banana, a sign of good things to come. This moderately carbonated hefe is a very spicy beer from start to finish, and as refreshing as any wheat brew should be. Most certainly worth visiting every few months.
