4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Weihenstephaner is my favorite imported German Weissbier.
The color is a beautiful golden orange and the foggy yeast looks bright white instead of just dirty. It also holds a decent head for a while.
Smells like half and half, plums. bananas and wheat. I’m drooling already. I noticed a lot of variation even between bottles in a six pack with this beer, which is unfortunate. This one is right on.
Flavor’s creamy and smooth. Good wheat flavor, but the sweetness blended with the citrus really steals the show. Almost wholesome to the point of my mouth not recognizing it as a beer. This is making me miss my military career in Germany.
Mouth feel is a little too carbonated for the thickness of the beer. That’s about the only miss here.
Weihenstephaner is my go to wietzen, but I must reiterate that I found a terrible inconsistency in the freshness of this beer. If you’re not impressed with the bottle in front of you, try another. This is a sad state of affairs, but the pay off of a perfect Hefe is well worth it. Good luck!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had on tap with a big slice of lemon. Poured to a nice hazy orange-red, with minimal head or lacing. Aroma was mostly wheat and bread, although some smell may have been overshadowed by the lemon. Taste was again, mostly wheat, bread and yeast, with a hint of clove spice. Finish was a little dry, though all and all, this was a good beer for a warm summer night.

PERFECT HEFE WEIZEN BEER. THE FRUIT AROMA AND FLAVOR IS THE BEST IN THIS VERY WELL BREWED DRINK. NEVER DRINK IT TOO COLD, YOU´LL LOSE THE BEST IT CAN GIVE YOU.

Thanks to YBSober for sharing this beer!
This is by far the best Hefe Weizen I’ve ever had.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy pale orange yellow color with a big bubbly head. (BTW don’t shake this one up (to mix the sediment) or you may explode the beer all over a friends kitchen. (sorry Wayne ;)
Smell: Boy, from the time this beer exploded all over the wall =) it had a fantastic aroma of lemon and wheat with a hint of fresh baked sweet bread.
Taste: The front of the palate is full of wheat, yeasty lemon citrus, and a nice mildly sweet breadiness. There is a nice gentle bitter that balances this beer perfectly.
Mouthfeel: Oh so smooth, a bit of a nice dry finish.
Drinkability: The most drinkable wheat I have had yet. It is truly German and I highly recommend!
Hope this is helpful.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
poured from a 12oz bottle. Citrus aroma, spicy, orange in color, cloudy like most good hefe’s, very frothy head, medium sweetness, lively, I’ve never been wild about this style, but I must say this is the best hefe I’ve ever drank. An outstanding brew.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 13, 2006 Pours light orange / dark gold with a large, thick, white head. Smells fantastic - like sweet breads (as in sugar+bread, not the sweetbreads as in veal glands), with some fruit (apple, banana). The flavor delivers what the aroma promises: doughy, wheaty, sweet, delicate hop bitterness, strong flavors of yeast which include crazy flavors - most notably apple and banana. Prime example of the style.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 23, 2009 Bottle split with Tronraner in a blind hefeweizen taste. Well, this was the clear winner. The aroma was the most powerful of the four with deep spiced notes of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, banana, and a bit of dry yeast. Very aromatic. The flavor is a notch down from the complex, rich aroma, but it still has admirable nuances. Good balance of cloves, bananas, tangy yeast, and wheat. The finish was the driest in our tasting and very lingering with rich spiced notes. Just a slight hint at earth was noticed. This is a fantastic rich, complex hefeweizen.

Pours a cloudy gold, large head. Bready, yeasty, with notes of banana and clove. Easy to drink, excellent flavor profile. Great beer.
