Nothing refreshes you more than this naturally cloudy wheat beer with its wonderful yeasty fragrance and taste. Goes well with dishes that do not have too intensive a flavour, especially that Bavarian speciality 'Weisswurst' or white sausage.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2006 16.9oz bottle, no date. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a staying fluffy white head. Aroma of banana nut bread, some yeast, pepper, and some tart wheat. Also some leather. Taste is much the same with some dust, spices and pepper coming out more in the finish. Very little bitterness. Finishes fairly dry. medium to light bodied, fantastic lacing. Excellent hefe.

Great summer beer. Pours cloudy dark golden color with a giant head that takes a while to dissipate, lots of carbonation. Smells sweet and wheaty and banana-like, maybe some clove in there too. Super malty with some honey and bananas, bit of a spicy bite at the end with a weeee bit of bitterness to make it interesting. I could drink lots of these... well, like, two.

One of my favorites-solid in every way-Pours light cloudy amber with small head-aroma is heavy wheaty banana with clove and spice background, epitome of a hefe beer. Flavor backs up aroma but also has a more cereal wheat flavor and yeasty prescence; very fruity and wheaty with a nice carbonation twinge throughout. Palate is creamy with a wheat with ripe banana aftertaste. Solid.

pours a hazy honey with a white head. Aroma is fresh sweet wheat, bananas, lemons, honey. Flavor is uber smooth and balanced...honey, malt, pepper, and bananas. Mouthfeel is very smooth and a bit dry...extremely refreshing.

Another nice German wheat beer. It didn’t beat out Franziskaner, but the quality was excellent. Nice carbonation to complete the standard cloudy yellow appearance of a nice Bavarian wheat. The flavor was strong but good with a sour touch to balance the sweetness.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2006 (04.21.06) 16 oz brown bottle from Beergeek.biz. 5.4% ABV. Batch 9165. Puured hazy orange with large white head. No discernable carbonation. Sweet malt, fruit and spicy clove in the nose. Medium boded beer that starts with light sweet malt and smoky/clove/banana ester flavors. Finished dry with light malt fade. Light hop bitterness detected. Well-balanced and delicious, both this beer and the dark versions are probably the finest hefeweiss beers that I’ve tried thus far. (07.06.06) UPDATE. On tap at Firkins, Libertyville, IL. Spicy smokey aroma. Poured hazy orange with medium white head. Soft carbonation. Light-to-medium bodied beer that starts with light malt sweetness and smoky clovey flavor. Some banana esters noted. Finished dry and clean. Refreshing. This is an excellent hefe, as good as, if not better than the bottled version. One of my favorite hefe beers. Ratings stay the same.

Pours hazy / cloudy yellow with a large pillowy head. Aroma has citrus and banana and a very clean smelling sweetness. There is also a bit of bread to the aroma. Light to medium bodied beer with lots of carbonation, but soft enough not to interfer with the flavors. Taste has lots of banana and light bits of orange. The finish has some prickliness from the carbonation as well as flavors from the intial taste mixed in with some cloves. Very nice beer.

Orange colored, strongly hazy appearance. Medium sized vanishing white head. Fine aroma with spices, sweetness, banana and yeast, spices fit here well. Medium bodied. Flavor has also spices with banana and yeast, aftertaste is lasting with yeast, mild dryness and alcohol. Fine weisse!
