4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Um Wow! This stuff is the end all be all. I suppose the best way to describe it is to go thru the drinking sequence. nice head, some citrus notes, great color for a hefe. goes down smoothly with a light citrus aftertaste. some accents of banana. This is the real deal, good on any occasion. If you haven't tried it, do so!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Relatively recent purchase for me--from my trip to Houston in Oct/Nov 2003. It's afresh as I'm normally ever going to see it, but alas, this bottle just doesn't do fresh Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier justice.
The beer pours golden and sports a massive creamy white head, just as it should, but even though I swirled the bottle fairly aggressively, there's no hefe--it's glued to the bottom of the bottle.
The aroma is very yeasty, with the telltale aroma of wheat, and hints of grass and a subtle matiness.
Taste is clean, yeast-malty with a nice citrus character, but there's a somewhat phenolic finish.
There's no substitute for fresh hefeeissen in situ.
I'm on a mission to fnd this on tap.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A beautiful beer to look at with it's creamy hudge head and frosted golden color. Yeast and banana fill the nose and a filling creamy beer is experienced as it passes the toungue. Not a hoopy beer, the empahasis here is all malt and hefe. I prefer the Dunkel, but this is very good. Unfortunatly this is so rarely fresh when purchased here. Worth seeking out close to the date of production.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2006 (Bottled) Murky, dark golden-orange color. Pours a large and quite lasting, cloudy and lacy head. Yeasty and sweet banana-strawberry aroma - smells strongly like sahti when pouring, but fades quickly. Sweetish banana flavor with perfectly balanced, crisp acidity and a sourish finish. No bitterness at all. Very smooth and slicky-yeasty, medium to full-bodied, quite carbonated palate. Very refreshing and enjoyable, and one of the world’s very best hefeweizens!

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2004 Had this over the weekend on tap at a bar. I was first happy they had a hefe-weizen, then REALLY happy when I tasted this beer. So smooth and delicious.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2003 Bottle. Pours cloudy orange-golden with a large white head that lingered nicely. Aroma is fruity with yeast and wheat very apparent. Flavor is sweet and delicious, banana, spice, a bit of breadiness and lingering bitter finish. Nice mouthfeel, medium body with creamy carbonation. Nice hefe all around. Oh yeah, this one made me wish I was back in a summertime Munich biergarten.
