COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nothing refreshes you more than this naturally cloudy wheat beer with its wonderful yeasty fragrance and taste. Goes well with dishes that do not have too intensive a flavour, especially that Bavarian speciality 'Weisswurst' or white sausage.

Amber with a weak white head. Aroma was of wheat with banana and a touch of smokiness. Smooth and creamy. Nice and somewhat refreshing but not appealing to me.

Cloudy upon pouring with no dominant taste. This brewery claims to be the oldest in the world. This means they must have wasted a lot of time producing this rather average beer.

The first thought that came to me was its banana and cinnamon taste. It was dark brown in color. Refreshing taste, I would get another.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2004 A decent white head tops the slightly hazy dark golden hue. Big yeasty aroma contains notes of cream, banana and lemon. Nice toasted-bready malt foreground. Wheat comes through nicely, refreshingly without being overbearing. Nice enough and mostly crisp, serving its purpose, but I just don’t dig the style yet. Upon resampling, this one is far more character loaded than the erdinger I had on parallel. Direct cloves and banana aroma. Very clean yeast profile and great mouthfeel. I still don’t enjoy the style, but this serves its purpose.

slightly toasty roasty aroma with hints of bananas. Moderatley hazy starw/copper color with a nice white head. Malty, sweet, roasty, malty banana/citrus finish. Im must be missing something, cause I dont find this beer special.

Delicious. Deep, hazy golden color. Aromas are classic ’bananas in my Wheaties" thing, with nice spicy qualities, too. Since it seems like almost everyone is using these guys yeast strain, the nose almost seemed cliche. But it’s just soooo good! I could smell this stuff all day and not be bored. Full of rich, soft wheat flavors, along with banana, clove, spicey hops (although they are pretty subdued in bitterness). Tart finish. THE STANDARD.

Nice looking beer, bananas and cloves, typical hefe. An excellent beer with good body and typical flavors. Surprisingly cheap here..

On draught at Bier Stube, East Davenport, IA. Served in a proper weizen glass. An absoultely fanstastic hefeweizen. Super cloudy yellow with a huge, frothy, and lasting head. Aroma is the standard hefe bananas and cloves, but the aroma is so much more pronounced, thick and musty. Rich, earthy yeast profile with a nice wheat tang and good carbonation balance. Delicious down to the last drop. Fantastic.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2006 Bottle - Tried this in the states and wasn’t overly impressed. Bought a fresh bottle here in Germany. Nice banana malt aroma with slight clove hint. Cloudy amber head with good head. Very nice balanced flavor - banana/peach flavor nice but not overwhelming - slight hint of malt - absolutely no bitterness. Okay - this is possibly the best Hefeweizen there is. Unfortunately, this beer does not age well so getting a fresh bottle is hit or miss - just tried some stateside and it was too old and I probably wouldn’t have given it much over a 3.0.

Hmm my stash seems to be running out... must go get lots more. Not working without having a cold one waiting for me in the fridge.
