Nothing refreshes you more than this naturally cloudy wheat beer with its wonderful yeasty fragrance and taste. Goes well with dishes that do not have too intensive a flavour, especially that Bavarian speciality 'Weisswurst' or white sausage.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2011 Drunk from it’s intended glass just accentuates it so much more...so light and floral. a great hefe. Lots of banana and clove. Very light, but the body gives just enough to leave an impression. A true delight and one of the world classics.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2008 I bought four of the Weihenstephaner beers and saved this one for last because I am a Hefe Weiss lover. So here I go. Pores a typical Hefe cloudy amber with a huge frothy head that just wont yield. Typical sweet malt and citrus aroma. Excellent palate with just a little tartness on the finish. Well its no Franziskaner but all in all a refreshing wheat beer.

Its difficult for me to comment and or rate this beer becuase it is so good i cant really explain the intenseness that comes for siting and enjoying it. Um again the scores i rated here are as close as i can come to representing my opinion of this beer without giving it the medal of honor even tho im damn close. I wont get into all the fancy terms every1 else uses but if u havent drank this beer, do it if u come across one. Maybe i will come across a beer better someday but for now its pretty high on the list. Drink from a GLASS!! :)

Great hefeweizen. Lovely color and taste. Much better experience than the one i had with Hacker-Pschorr. Very drinkable. I had mine with a batch of steamed crabs.

Bottle @ Le Coq au Vin. Good hefeweizen, enjoyed it with a cassoulet. Nice head, aromatic.

Purchased just a single bottle. It poured a nice semi-cloudy yellow, with a nice sized head. The aromas were good, strong banana, clove, and wheat. The flavors are the same with a hint of vanilla. I didn’t like the fact that it was a little thin for my likings, so the mouthfeel was off just a bit. Also, the nasty black yeast that dropped out of the bottom didn’t help my rating at the end.

(nottle) Pours hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma is quite nice with some banana, clove, and a nice dose of yeast. Taste is where the beer falters a bit, with slight, very slight sweetness of banana, with the rest being clove, and a finish of yeast quite similar to that of mineral water. Medium body, not too bad of a hefe.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2007 [Bottle, thanks Guerde] Pours hazy golden with a big off-white head that lasts forever. Aroma is very nice with the typical hefe aromas of banana and cloves. Taste is the same but a little disappointing in that it is quite subdued. This is not helped by the medium-thin mouthfeel and average-at-best finish. Still though, this is definitely drinkable.

Definitely the best hefeweissen I have had so far. It looks more like honey than beer, being a rich, almost opaque, slightly orange golden color. Aroma is strong and wheaty, with a strong citrus overtone - but the latter may have come from the obligatory lemon wedge. Flavor is rich, typical of a wheat beer but mouth-filling - no "thin" feeling whatsoever. I got a strong hint of citrus, but again this may have been due to the lemon wedge in the beer. Light, smooth and tingly, this beer is a winner. No wonder they have been in business for almost a millennium!
