A good hefeweizen even looks refreshing, and this one was certainly that. Pouring a hazy dark yellow with a fluffy white head, this has a banana dominated aroma supported by cloves, some grassiness, and a drop of lemon juice. Nicely carbonated and light in the mouth, this has a yeasty banana flavor along with some sweet maltiness and a touch of wheat tartness. Clean refreshing finish. After all this time, these guys are still doing things right.

(on bottle) There´s not much to say, but this is the standard other german wheats should live up to. Perfect balanced between sweetness and a slight hopping, exelent carbonation and a freash rush of malts to follow with a new sip. Thanx to the monks 1000 years ago, really; thanx!

18 Nov 2004 - Banana and clove aroma. Appearance is same as Kristall except cloudy. Nice fruit complexity and spiritous floral hop aroma. Thick mouthfeel and a lingering fruit finish.

Beer #1 in German Bier Night. Cloudy yellow/gold color with a bubbly head that settles into a very thin sheen. Banana dominates the aroma with some yeastiness. Taste is more yeasty banana but not as much than whats in the nose. Medium body with a light carbonation in the mouthfeel. Although good, I doubt this stuff handles the journey very well. I guess I’m off to Germany to try a fresher version.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2009 Bottled. A cloudy orange coloured beer which pours with a tiny head. The aroma has bananas, a little lemon and maybe some cream. The taste has more of the same and is typically hefe although maybe the mouthfeel is a little fuller. I really struggle to say much about this style. Most hefes I’ve had are pleasantly drinkable but unexciting.Score 3.1

Excellent beer that suffers from $2.50 pint night pour. Very little head in a "regular" pint glass. A little work with a straw after a few sips brings the head to life and awakens the hidden aromas developed in this beer. Still not a great presentation for this wheat monster that defines the style for me. Slightly cloudy with dark straw/ amber color. Truly a great summertime beer. But, when it’s 65 degrees in February.. it just feels like summer. Malt/fruit flavor complimented by spice/citrus. One of a very few non-killer-hoppy beers that I could drink every day and that I actually keep in the beer frig. Choice is good.

Pours cloudy yellow with small white head that quickly diminishes. Nose is Banana, allspice, and faint soap. Banana and wheat flavors combat each other as well as some spicy notes. Finishes with clean banana flavor. Very good.

I hadn’t really been a fan of wheat beers until the number of quality imports increased. They are still not in my top styles but for a hot Sydney summer day they work very well. Especially in the generous weizen style of glassware that encourages a billowy head over the plae cloudy beer. Great diacetyl nose character with banana and some light cloviness. Very enjoyable mouthfeel that is smooth rather than harsh. A bit of effervescence there as there is a bit of a belch factor. Oh well, beer was made to repeat like this, I mean beer was made to repeat like this.
