3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was a perfect German hefeweizen for me. Pours a clouded blond with a hint of brown in the mix. Tall whitish head with a nose full of malt, spice, yeast and maybe a hint of fruit - banana and citrus. The tongue is wonderful. More spice and yeast with some sweet notes. Very good and very refreshing! One of my more favorite hefeweizens.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours with a massive head like ice cream which stays to the bottom of the glass. Colour is a cloudy yellowy-brown (no real orange tinge). Aroma is amazing - spicy clove, sweet malt, orange, pineapple, alcohol. Given the amazing aroma the flavour is a bit of let-down. It's sweetish, with a touch of fruit (pineapple) and alcohol. Body is a bit thicker than I would like for a hefeweizen.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a thick slow to drop foam and keeps on going. The appearance is very cloudy and there is a hint of colliander that gets stronger the longer it sits.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2003 Golden color. This is a great tasting hefe without the typical clove taste of the standard Deutsch Wheat, but plenty of banana and wheat flavors. Great beer.

16.9 fl. oz. brown bottle. When you drink this beer, folks, you're drinking a little bit of history. Made at the world's oldest brewery virtually guarantees that much. It poured out a rich, golden yellow color, with a dense, rocky, white head. It slowly fades to a really decent lacing on top of the beer. Aromas are of banana, slight clove, and sweet grass. Fresh cut hay is along for the ride as well.
Champagne like effervescence make this a slightly gassy beer. Tastes good, with that classic yeast bite at the end. Makes a great summertime beer.

Every bit as good as Franziskaner, much to my delight. I would be interested in testing the two side-by-side. The cloudy, yellow-orange body is topped by a dense white head. Aroma is wheat tang, cloves, and some banana. Flavor is full and tasty, with banana and clove yeast notes sharing center stage with wheat tang. Very smooth mouthfeel. Lives up to its reputation.

Cloudy, opaque yellow body with a creamy white head. Nice lacing.
Smells of wheat, yeast and citrus (mainly lemon). A bit of spice in the nose too.
Full bodied wheat. Nice yeast and lemon flavors too. Nice crisp wheat.
Clean and smooth palate.
