COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nothing refreshes you more than this naturally cloudy wheat beer with its wonderful yeasty fragrance and taste. Goes well with dishes that do not have too intensive a flavour, especially that Bavarian speciality 'Weisswurst' or white sausage.

tap-maproom, Chicago, IL-Hands down, the best hefe I have ever had. The aroma, body, appearance and palate are all right on par for excellence. I must get more!!!

On tap: Map room - Chicago. This is what I think about when I want a hefe. Nice and cloudy, bright yellow with a crisp white diminishing head. Smooth mouthfeel. Spicy and yeasty. Very refreshing and traditional.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2007 Thick, spumous white head and cloudy honey-colored body with moderate carbonation. Pleasant aroma of banana esters, yeast, and fresh biscuits. Great depth of flavor with a pronounced fresh wheaty character, and notes of Mandarin orange, some mild nuttiness and a hint of phenolics. Continental hops make an appearance and lend some light but detectable flavor and bitterness. Mostly dry except for a touch of honey-like sweetness. Medium fullness on the tongue with some crisp and lively effervescence. This beer can slake a mean thirst but still has tons of character. One of my summer favorites.

I'm not very familiar with the Hefe-weiss style but I certainly enjoyed this particular beer. Poured from the bottle into a glass, I was amazed at the initial carbonation and the very thick, "pocky" head. Color was a cloudy gold with the gorgeous meringue-looking head, which took awhile to settle down. The taste of cloves & bananas is noticeable but fairly subtle. Very smooth mouthfeel. I found myself wanting to grab another bottle of this once I finished the first--it's very good.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2005 (500 ml bottle). Cloudy golden colour (fairly dark for a Hefe), large head, not very strong aroma of cloves, good refreshing flavour, hints of bitterness (which often seems to be lacking in other Weissbiers).

The sample I had was at least 9 months old, having received it at Christmas as part of a gift pack. Astonishingly, the head, color, aroma, etc. appeared to be intact, and was quite refreshing. As others have said, it has the banana, clove, and other spice components without being overpowering. Great for the summer!

Poster child for the true Bavarian-style hefeweisen: the appearance is unfiltered gold; the nose is true to the style; the taste is yeasty and develops the banana and spice attributes that one associates with a good hefe, but it does not overwhelm the senses. Very smooth finish. Most enjoyable.

Cloudy and fruity (banana) in nature. Some spicy hoppiness is here. I would rather drink Ayinger.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2004 On tap. Hazy orange color. Big yeast, bubble gum and banana aroma. Full wheat flavor, more bubble gum, sweet but pleasant. Smooth, refreshing summer beer, especially when compared to some of the american wheats I've encountered lately. Rerate: Upped the score just a bit; lots of peppery spice in the aroma as well. This is a full bodied hefeweizen, lots of bubble gum, chewy. Dryish finish, soothing. Excellent.

When poured into my glass, there was a large white foamy head with small bubbles. The lacing was fair on the sides of my glass. It had an aroma of clove, banana and a light malty aroma as well. The body was yellow in hue. The flavor was smooth from start to finish. This was an enjoyable brew to drink on a warm summer day.
