3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2005 Extremely refreshing wheat, with a strong banana and clove aroma and rich wheaty mouthfeel that is just so creamy. Lemon, grapefruit, orange notes coexist with cut grass sourness. Very nicely done by these newcomers...

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a amber color very cloudy with a beautiful healthy head. Aroma is mostly cloves with some banannas. Very similar to the Hefewiessbier dunkel that I just finished. Maybe a little lighter and a little more grass/wheat taste to this one. Light in body and carbonated well to make it very refreshing. Starts out sweet with a taste of bananna then to clove taste and finishes with just a little bitter sourness lemon maybe. I think from the wheat. Tasty beer and very nice.

A good hefeweizen even looks refreshing, and this one was certainly that. Pouring a hazy dark yellow with a fluffy white head, this has a banana dominated aroma supported by cloves, some grassiness, and a drop of lemon juice. Nicely carbonated and light in the mouth, this has a yeasty banana flavor along with some sweet maltiness and a touch of wheat tartness. Clean refreshing finish. After all this time, these guys are still doing things right.

(on bottle) There´s not much to say, but this is the standard other german wheats should live up to. Perfect balanced between sweetness and a slight hopping, exelent carbonation and a freash rush of malts to follow with a new sip. Thanx to the monks 1000 years ago, really; thanx!

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2014 18 Nov 2004 - Banana and clove aroma. Appearance is same as Kristall except cloudy. Nice fruit complexity and spiritous floral hop aroma. Thick mouthfeel and a lingering fruit finish.

Beer #1 in German Bier Night. Cloudy yellow/gold color with a bubbly head that settles into a very thin sheen. Banana dominates the aroma with some yeastiness. Taste is more yeasty banana but not as much than whats in the nose. Medium body with a light carbonation in the mouthfeel. Although good, I doubt this stuff handles the journey very well. I guess I’m off to Germany to try a fresher version.
