Nothing refreshes you more than this naturally cloudy wheat beer with its wonderful yeasty fragrance and taste. Goes well with dishes that do not have too intensive a flavour, especially that Bavarian speciality 'Weisswurst' or white sausage.

Bottle. Hazy yellow orange with a large white head. Lots of banana in the nose, raspberry, strawberry. Same goes for flavour with some grain, hay, pineapple, oranges, cloves. Medium body, lively carbonation, some sweetness, little bitterness. Easy going.

The classic Weissbier. A beautiful frothy head with a delicious wheat and malt taste and a clean finish. Best when drank from tap. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

When poured into the glass it produces a dense creme coloured cloudy, quite longlasting head. The colour of the beer itself is hazy apricot. Aromas of ripe banana, honey, wheat, yeast, some vanilla, and clove come to mind. Hopy, then flavours of popcorn, malt, sweet banana, butter, clove and sth between slight cinnamon and honey. Smooth mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Incredible solid beer.

On tap, 500ml. Pours yellow with a brownish tint and heavy cloudiness. Head is medium-tall, white, thick and creamy; and is long lasting. In nose, aromas of strong clove, slightly phenolic, wheat, some spice, light banana, very slight vanilla and some malt, sweet and pleasant. Mouth feel is creamy and quite full, with medium carbonation and nice texture. Tastes slightly sweet with very mild hop bitterness and very subtle sourness. Flavors of clove, with very slight phenol, light banana, strong wheat with some yeast and light malt, hop flavor is not very noticeable. Good, not heavy, yet complex enough and very drinkable.

After spending an entire summer in Germany, where I was introduced to wheat beer, I was excited to come home and see what America had to offer. Sadly, I struggled to find anything that came close to my experiences in Germany and eventually gave up. One day, bored and equipped with Google, I set out to learn more about beer. Along the way I stumbled upon RateBeer and BeerAdvocate, both of which hold this beer in the highest regard. I tracked it down, poured it up, and drank my first sip. Absolutely beautiful.

Pours a beautiful, hazy, sunny, peach pulp color, with a dense, stable head. Smells of ripe banana, red apple skin, together with grassy hops and white pepper. Banana shines through beautifully, while balanced by the hops and a coppery whiff, remaining the beers enjoyable balance. Drinks incredibly smooth, carried by soft yeast, feels utmost silk on the palate, while providing enough carbonation to create an refreshing impression. Begins with cakey malts, clove, honey and a fantastic yeast smoothness, establishing the beers world-class mouthfeel. While the spices are prominent, they do get tamed by earth, a glimpse of oak and the grassy, slightly herbal hops. Finishes with young banana, more clove and honey, while the hops provide a pleasant, refreshing herb presence. The interplay between noteable carbonation and euro hops turns out great, as the beer don’t need no bitter hop punch to balance the sweeter spices, but uses the metallic qualities from the carbonation to create a short, refreshing burn, taming the sweeter ingredients of the brew. As easy as this drinks, as convincing is the beers receipt, showcasing a truly well made Weissbier, which leaves a refreshing, perfectly balanced impression on the palate.

Weihenstephaner is the pioneers of wheat beers, because it is from the world’s oldest brewery that still exist, and their beer is cherished by beer connoisseurs worldwide. Beautiful foamy beer with a discreet but delicate aroma of banana and wheat. Other wheat beer smells more towards like freshly baked bread, but Weihenstephaner is therefore more ’green’ with fresh immature wheat grain. The taste is rich of ripe banana, but without the sweetness of taking too much. It is a little spicy of coriander and a little clove, again in a manner which seasoning does not take over either banana sweetness or its fresh thirst-quenching wheat malt embossed twist. Everything is in perfect balance, actually so perfect that it is almost scary perfect. All hefeweissbier I will taste in the future will be in deep contrast to this masterpiece. I am very excited.
