subcell (95), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Jun 29, 2008 I am a huge fan of Hefe Wiessen beers and this was an excellent choice for me. I can honestly say that I enjoyed it very much. It had the traditional banana/clove taste but was sweeter with a little more spice to it. I thought it had a very nice nose and a clean crisp finish. probstk (1005), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Jun 29, 2008 500 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a Weizen glass. JN 27/08.[br/][br/]
App.: Hazy orange-golden with a fair white meringue.
Aroma: Cereal and wheat, slightly tangy, light banana esters, a bit grassy, lightly smokey (really??), slightly spicey.
Palate: Medium body, medium-full effervescence, somewhat astringent.
Flav.: A bit more banana that on the nose, some cereal and what, a bit of clove dry with a very slight spicey grain aftertaste.[br/][br/]
I worked on the Freising campus of TUM, where this brewery is located. Oddly enough, their products were not well-liked by the locals due to rumours of headaches. This product was not well-liked by me because it was boring. Thankfully, no headache to report. Skidds (252), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 29, 2008 Updated: Jul 1, 2008Has the aroma and flavour of a typical Hefeweizen. Citrus, yeast, banana, cloves, and bubblegum. A bit sweeter than other hefeweizens I have had (a good thing). I have been wanting to try this one for quite some time now. I was happy to see it here finally. Although I think it is just seasonal beer here in Ontario. This reminds me why I love Hefeweizens. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Jun 29, 2008 On tap at Happy Pizza Kitchen in Munich. I am rating my very first encounter with this beer, and subsequent run-ins have been stateside bottles and do not live up to the first few pints of this I had. Unbelievable smoothness and almost a fruity yeast taste. Very effervescent texture, notes of mellow banana and appley-clove. Just outstanding when I had it first. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 28, 2008 bottle, cloudy pour with large foamy head, banana fruit flavors are well controlled not overpowering, finish is smooth and balanced Habanero (610), Tranbjerg, Denmark Jun 27, 2008 Bottle: Pours golden and hazy with a huge white head. Wonderfull nose of vanilla and banana. Grainy flavour with wheat and citrus. Very drinkable. azlondon (655), Fribourg, Switzerland Jun 27, 2008 Appearance: Pale yellow, cloudy. Lots of head, not longlasting.
Aroma: Not that wheaty. Hint of fruit, honey.
Taste: Pretty wheaty, hopsy. Fizzy.
Info: 500ml bottle, 24/1-2006, 65/300, 41/500 austone (998), Turku; Pori, Finland Jun 26, 2008 Fizzy golden w/ huge pale head. Strongly wheaty nose, raw banana, clove, yeast. Flavor is quite spritzy, wheat, peppery spices, a hint of alcohol. This bottle was surprisingly low on fruitiness. Medium bodied, slick palate. It’s a good weisse, but I’ll go with Ayinger.
