Boutip (2335), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Mar 13, 2008 Updated: Jun 17, 2008Bottle: Poured a deep amber color weisse with a big foamy head with medium retention and no lacing. Aroma of banana and cloves is quite present. Taste is a mix between some banana and cloves ester and some sweet malt. Body is full with loads of lees and minimal filtration and some good carbonation. Not exactly what I was expecting and a bit darker then expected on the appearance side. It is too bad the bottles are not dated since I believe this may have been an older bottle. I will be adding this one to the need to re-rate list.
Rerate June 2008: A lot less sediment then last time with a more pronounced aroma of banana and cloves. Very well done. BeMerry (37), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Mar 12, 2008 Bottle. Huge creamy head. Light gold. Cloudy. Floral aroma with citrus, malt and a bit of musty cellar. Sweet taste; clove and orange prominent. Slight banana note and bubble gum in lingering aftertaste. Mouthfeel is full with zesty foaming. Delicious! JCastner (102), New York, USA Mar 11, 2008 Bottle. Great example of a classic Hefe.
Great summer beer. Nothing bad to say about this one. DubC5000 (195), San Diego, California, USA Mar 7, 2008 Smelled like ketchup and tasted like onion rings. Very unusual brew, with a sour-sweet taste not unlike a saison. Not a particular fan, but props for uniqueness. bitbucket (2027), Kirkland, Washington, USA Mar 5, 2008 Bottle, split with after4ever. Pours cloudy gold with a lacy white head. Just a bit of banana and soft cloves in the aroma. Medium body and light carbonation. The taste picks up the same notes as the nose. I’d like to try one of these badboys on tap. tnkw01 (128), USA Mar 4, 2008 Bottle. Not crazy about the way hefeweisse beer looks, love the way it smells and tastes. Cloudy, yellow color. Smells of cloves and slight fruit. Tastes of spice and fruit. Best hefeweisse their is. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 3, 2008 Golden with a slight haze. Aroma is wheaty and citrusy with slight clove. Nice raich wheat flavour with a nice cloy sweetness with crisp finish. Adenila (932), Denmark Mar 2, 2008 The king of german weissbiers, enjoyed along with a creamy soup, to which it was a perfect match! Extra soft and round plate and flavor, along with classic notes of banana and wheat, i think i still prefer the paulaner, but i have to match then some day.
