SeanMacGC (54), Dublin, Ireland Oct 12, 2008 Draught. Pours with typical hefe golden cloudiness, with durable head. Citrus and yeast on the nose, and decent mouthfeel. gtrmn768 (1), , Georgia, USA does not count Oct 9, 2008 Tasty hefe, not too sweet, not too strong. A bit heady when poured, smooth going down. Fairly mellow overall and damn enjoyable. Not too expensive either for an import. esox (114), Oulu, Finland Oct 9, 2008 Bottled. Huge, floffy and creamy head is white. Pours hazy yellow to orange. Warm aroma of wheaty banana and sourish yeast. Spicy sharpness is also detectable. Flavor is sweetish malty with increasing sourness and dryness towards the finish. There´s also mild bitteration in the finish. Palate is creamy smooth and moderately carbonated. Medium bodied. pivnizub (3899), Porúří, Germany Oct 8, 2008 Bottle: Deep golden, hazy with a firm almost creamy white head; very solid sweet-fruity (oranges, lemons) nose with some phenolic, yeasty and wheaty undertones; medium bodied; robust sweet-sourish flavour with a tinge of bitterness; moderate sweet-fruity-wheaty finish, balanced by bitterness and tartness in the aftertaste. First-class Weizen......... FatPhil (2367), Espoo, Finland Oct 6, 2008 500ml bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Oktoberfest 2008)
This is one of my favourite hefe-weizens. However, I was pretty boozed up by the time I decided to knock this one back, and it wasn’t refreshing enough for me. The aroma was the usual toffee and banana, but the palate was sticky, and the taste was so packed full of caramel it was simply not crisp enough. I’ll have no problem rerating this in the future though.
