Supple, malty and mellow. Its harmonious flavour is the great strength of our dark wheat beer.

RedHaze (371) - Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA - JAN 14, 2007
Pours a very hazy bronze/brown with a thick two finger head that slowly fades to a thick cap and leaves behind a substantial amount of lacing. Smell; full of bananas and cloves. There’s also a bit of a grassy smell, along with a nice caramel sweetness. Taste; the cloves and bananas have a strong presence, but not to powerful. It has a yeasty bread dough flavor, as well as a bit of earthiness, and finishes with a good malty sweetness. Mouthfeel is rich and creamy, and goes down really nicely. I’m happy that I can get some of these Weihenstephaner beers in my area now.

detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 14, 2007
Pours a hazy copper, topped by a thick and creamy light tan foam. Great head retention, decent lacing. Light malt aroma, with a little bit of dry spiciness in there too. Flavorful beer - nutty toasted malt, wheat, caramel, chocolate, clove and some other earthy dry spice. All of these flavors are fairly mild on their own, yet blend together for a nice, complex taste. Toasted malt, a little bit o’ honey sweetness, and some dry apple-citrus tartness linger into the finish and aftertaste. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel, quite well carbonated.

Bottle. Cola-colour, thick white head. Typical clove aroma. Nice thick palate, not sweet taste at all but rather fresh earthy notes with nuts and cloves in the finish.

Cloudy, toffee-ish brown. Huge offwhite head with fabulous lacing. Aromas of sweet fruit (not just banana) and clove. Soft mouthfeel. Flavors are not too sweet. Yeastiness that appears on the back end is interesting and not unpleasant. Fine example of the genre.
