3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Not much to say here, actually.
Pours a dark honey color with a *huge* off-white head. Very little lacing.
Smells and tastes average at best. It's a little on the weak side. It's not overly sweet, thankfully. Just your typical banana/clove/caramel malts, but not very much of anything.
Mouthfeel is weak in that it almost tastes watered down. It is refreshing, though, which is why drinkability is good.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap. Typical German wheat beer aroma - banana, clove, bread. Cloudy light brown color, decent head. Flavor is similar to a hefe, but less tart and with a little caramel flavor. Medium body. Great session beer. Nobody does a wheat beer like Weihenstephan - the ester and phenol profile is perfect.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Muddy dark brown beer. Great tall cream head. Smells awesome. Yeasty banana/bubble gum, malt, both in the nose as well as the flavor. Slightly sweet as well. Better than Hacker Pschorr Dunkel Weiss definitely. Dry and a little metallic. Even a nice little bitterness to end up.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy, light brown color, huge light beige head. Notes of yeast, a bit sweet, malty (caramel), notes of banana in aroma. Medium and smooth body, lively carbonation. Flavor is yeast-like, a bit sweet, malty, lightly bitter. Finish is dry and a bit acidic. Nice dunkelweizen overall.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Has a clouded dark brown color with an off-white head and high carbonation. Smell is of spice/clove. Taste is of the wheat/clove and finishes pretty crisp. Overall it is not a bad wheat, but same as the regular, not great.

Much like the regular hefe, with a hint of chocolate. very enjoyable but given a choice of regular or dark, i would suggest the regular.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2004 Dirty, muddy brown/dark orange color. Thick and lasting, off-white head. Sweetish, yeasty and wheaty banana aroma with caramel malt. Fruity flavor with yeast and some caramel malt - and a quick, bitter finish. Slightly sour and acidic. Palate is light to medium-bodied, sticky, and quite stingy carbonated. Must be drank cold, or the beer will foam like hell in mouth, leaving not room for actually tasting it. A decent weizen, but I definitely prefer the excellent light version. Also a bit too thin body for a hefeweizen.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
This beer pours a brown color with a nice, thick head and it leaves some lacing on the glass. The aroma is that of malts, with some fruit and caramel as well. The flavor wasn't very enjoyable, in my opinion. There was something slightly skunky about it - which I've found rare in darker beers. The flavor was a mixture of the malts and the caramel, but I didn't find much of the fruit that was in the aroma. Again, not a terrible beer, but I didn't care much for it.

Dark malty, chewey. Tangy yeasts offset by mellow chocolate and creamed coffee. Banana and clove peak in now and then. Smooth and easy to drink, went well with pizza, I'd like some more, please!

Good Weizens loose their freshness and flavors quickly, but if you can get one of these while it's fresh you'll be rewarded with banana, vanilla, and malt aromas, malt, fruit and yeast flavors with a smooth filling refreshing dark beer. Some prefer the lighter of their Weissbiers, I'll take the Dunkel.
