3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is a sweet Hefe like scent with tones of banana in it. Color is a dark golden brown with very high carbonation and a thick head that starts off tight but loosens quickly. Taste is sweet and toasted. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a smooth feel. Finish comes is with a mellow sweet flavor that has a nice toasted taste and mild banana esters. This is a tasty and impressive brew.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2008 500ml Bottle.
Muddy orangy brown, thick bready head. Classic rye-bread and banana aroma, sharp spicy hints too. Well carbonated, maybe a little fizzy in the mouth. Sweet and dense malty taste, caramel heading towards treacle. Leaves the mouth surprisingly crisp. Excellent dunkel hefeweizen.
Rerate 20080905 - just as good, identical rating.

Bottled(500ml). -Murky caramelish brown coloured, medium to big sized pale beige head, pleasant wheaty fruity and pappery nose. The aroma is very fruity (strong taste of banana and mild of apple), wheaty and roasted malty with notes of caramel and toffee. Light fruity finish. Very nice dunkelweizen.

Draft @ Kavarna, Decatur, GA. Pours a murky brown with thin pearl film on top. Nose is like a banana rye bread: firm and doughy, with some fruity notes. Peppery on the palate, mildly carbonated, wheats come through strong along with nutmeg spiciness and a relatively full body. Finishes dry with very mild bitterness. Quite nice, like most weihenstephans.

Wonderful Dunkel. No surprise coming from Weihen. Pours a perfect deep copper brown with a rich foamy off-white head. Subtle aromas of banana and clove - perfect for the style. Flavor is malty and balanced by a touch of bitterness on back of palate that became more pronounced as the beer warms. Very nice beer. Recommended.

Nice looking wheat beer with its typical cloudy amber hue and frothy head. Fantastic sweet malt aroma with just a little citrus tanginess. What a great tasting beer, sweet and lightly tart with a full bodied malt flavor that ends with just enough bitter to leave your moth watering for more.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a 500 ml bottle this poured a cloudy brown with small off-white head and light lacing. Nose of wheat and malts, with a creamy mouthfeel. Flavor was malty, with a little toffee. Slightly bitter finish. Almost like a Belgian Ale. Very drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle.
Slightly murky, brown beer, with a terrific tan head.( tight and bubbly).
Very wheat filled aroma, some toffeeish malts.
Nice flavor profile, semi-sweet milky almost maltiness, then a good strong wheat mouthful, can barely detect hops in the finish, overall very nice and well balanced.
Very good palate, quite thick for the style and a pleasant after taste.
Good drinking beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Suprising for a dunkel. Maybe I misunderstood what a dunkel was. Tasted much like a white ale with the bitterness of some kind of fruit peel. Perhaps orange peel. Very sharp but a lasting creaminess. Head is thick, grey/white, and never fully diminishes. Some lacing, but minimally noticeable. I expected more body from a dunkel, but still a nice beer if you want something light and sharp. Lots of cloves, too. Almost reminds me of Aventinus.
