COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Supple, malty and mellow. Its harmonious flavour is the great strength of our dark wheat beer.

Dark amber coloured and hazy with a big stable head.Smell of yeast, clove, alittle banana, maybe sherry. Full mouthfeel with malty notes, again clove and banana, spices and a distinct sourness. Refreshing and nice, but not overwhelming.

Poured from a 500 mL bottle into a Weihenstephaner chalice. In my chalice this dunkelweizen pours a translucent walnut brown color with a reddish tint. A tan head has a nice original size and density before gently fading. The aroma is surprisingly strong on the yeast. Clove, some banana, and a bit of dark fruit. Maybe some caramel in the background. Although I was expecting a burst of robust flavor from each sip, I was somewhat disappointed in the blandness of the Hefeweissbier Dunkel. The requisite banana and clove notes are there, as they are in the regular Hefe, but they are almost muted by what should be the dunkel part. The only thing is, there is not much in terms of caramel, toasted malts, or dark fruits to be found. The carbonation is vivacious as I was expecting, with a rather light body. The beer wraps up pretty cleanly with no real aftertaste to speak of. Overall I have to say this is the weakest Weihenstephaner offering I have had. I have no issue with how it was brewed per se, but the combination of flavors (or lack thereof) make it tough to say I would want to have this again.

Poured from a 500 mL bottle into a tall glass. Pours cloudy honey. Leaves an off white head with nice lacing. Aroma is mild hops, oatmeal, and wheat with notes of citrus. Flavour is sour mash, wheat, coriander, orange, and spice. There is a long finish with a chorus of hops.

Brown beer with nice head. Typical hefeweizen aromas combined with some more darker aromas. Sweet taste with some banana. Medium body, nice long finish.

Bottle, 50cl, Mitra Nijmegen. Had this with friends at a vegan dinner party. Pours with a beautiful dark brown to amber gradiant in a traditional weizen glass. Tastes of rye bread and less sweet than expected (which is good). This beer went very will with dinner: sweet potato purée with nuts and coconut and chicory with mashed peas and mint.

A very nicely balanced beer. Equal parts caramel and subtle clove spicing. Very nice mouthfeel.

Pours dark amber, cloudy body with a huge, creamy long lasting head. Smells of bread, nuts, cookies and fruits. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Medium carbonation, finish is nicely balanced. Taste remembers of bread, chocolate, vanilla.

Eerste smaak is goed, tikje donker wat mout en honing tonen. De smaak wordt met name overspoeld door het koolzuur gehalte. Dit is erg hoog. Lekker bij sommige eten maar om alleen te nuttigen is het teveel.

Bottle - pours a cloudy brown - appears to have some sediment. Very thick tan head. Nose full of clove and spice. Taste of clove however sweetens over time and ends with a lingering maple, brown sugar taste. Very drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
