3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Just drank it and now enjoying Jamil Zainasheff’s show on the style. He recommends that homebrewers go a little overboard if they want to win a competition, as people expect the dunkelweizens to be heavier than they typically are. I definitely enjoyed this one, Clove banana bubblegum esters... body texture carbonation. It’s obviously a good beer from every aspect. If you like the Hefes you’ll love this one, if not you’ll hate it. Simple. We’re so lucky these have survived the times.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Classic Bavarian Dunkelweizen with rocky, cream white head and warm golden brown colour, hazy as expected. Gentle, complex bouquet of pear, banana, plums, chocolate, bready yeast; velvety palate, soft and fruity, nutty and chocolatey malts, subtle and elegant wheat sourishness in the finish with a brief, mild hop accent. Exemplary.

This is a swampy little hefeweissbier. Sweet but not too sweet. I don’t normally like banana bread, but this is what I wish it tasted like. Is there a better example of the style?
