3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Reviewed 1/17/2010 (bottle coded 3179):
Pours a very cloudy dark brown color body, big foamy off-white head, somewhat lasting, decent lacing. Very fruity aroma, lots of banana and fruit like strawberries. Dry somewhat spicy too, maybe clove. Not overpowering. Nice thick mouthfeel, almost like drinking thick syrup. Very thick, some flavor, but not very much. Almost a chemical taste to it, plastic or something. Warming up a bit more, more dark fruit like grape, raisin. Not very complex a flavor, light. Better as it warms.

500 ml. bottle sampled @ Barley Legal Tasting Room. Thanks to Kraddel! Reddish dark amber, tanned head. Smell is pure fish guts mixed with lots of brown sugar & brown banana. Taste is same, lots of fish guts, bread, oodles of brown sugar, sweet spices, brown banana. Very fizzy. Far too much fish guts for my liking maybe age can get rid of that but for now as it is fresh, this is far too much.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a weizen glass.
The appearance had a nice dark brown color with a three finger white foamy head that moderately dissipated and left a great deal of foamy white lacing sticking finely to the glass.
The smell had a wonderful amount of sweet sticky chocolate to coat over some light banana along with some sweet German malts. I also get some light cinnamon as the beer warms up a bit.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to town and made a super nice sweet yet still had that slight cinnamon spice underneath.
On the palate, this one sat right at a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about this one. The carbonation was good for the style and for me as it was just right on par all around.
Overall, what a nice dunkelweizen well worth having again.
