A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

Light malty aroma, good head. Medium bodied with a nice nutty feel to it, and some touches of alcohol. A little bit of a sugary taste present also. Another good beer from these guys.

500ml bottle only thing resembling a date is a code on the back lable:0054. Pours like Dr. Pepper, audible fizzing, foamy off-white head, and like Dr. Pepper, the head dies quick. Deep brown color. Smells of raisins, maybe figs, and some dusty carmelly malt. Full bodied. This glides down very easily, and has some nice bitterness in the finish to achieve balance. I’m left with hops lingering instead of sweetness, which I like. Melanoidinal(if that’s a word)l and some chocolate in the flavor, along with more dark fruits. I like this beer. Its big, drinks clean & balanced, fairly complex yet welcoming.

Dark brown with sweet vanilla and dates in aroma. Excellent licorice malt with a nice hop final. Syrupy/creamy mouthfell, a little oily with restrained alcohol vapours. Nice.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2004 3 Aug 2004 - Sweet plum fruit, smoky malt aroma. Clear dark colour. Choos how can you say only 3/5 for appearance when the lacing and head are unbelievable. Great fruit and hop flavour with nice hop palate that lingers nicely across the tongue.

Clear, dark brown color, and a big, bursting pinkish brown head. Nose is a complete and utter gas! Wow! Far-flung aromatics: spices and fruit, sour cherries, grapes, sweet, rich, and invigorating! Lush mouthfeel, luxuriating, the cares of the world drift away, or they’d better, for there’s nothing that should interfere with the enjoyment of this phenomenol brew..hangs heavily in the mouth, and you want to extend any invitation and elongate it’s stay, so welcome is this delicious presence in the mouth...hedonistic, even... Medium body, delicate and delicious finish, stong malt presence. Drinks down a bit rummy, a trifle winish. Very complex and extraordinarily tasty. This one washes over you and makes it all better, like a hot bath. Wow, what a beer! One of the best doppelbocks on Earth, hands down!

Bottle: Deep reddish brown hue with small frothy off-white head and good lace. The aroma has notes of wheat and pumpernickel bread, caramlized malts, toffee, grassy and noble hops, and a hint of allspice. The taste starts malty and chewy sweet with a ripe plum and orange zest background. Some mild bitters appear but a smoky mocha finish is lasting. The feel is lively and sort of silky, but not heavy in body. A solid beer which you can enjoy anytime of year. I do wish it was a tad more fruity and more spicy. Quaffable indeed.

All the things that make a great DB are here. Beautiful colour, lacing in the glass (little head though), and expected malty nose. The nose is a genuine malty hit with chocolate and caramel flavours present. Dontcha luvem?
