A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

A pleasant aroma of sweet caramel. Tastes initially sweet with a mouthful of bitter hops at the end. Overall a plesant drink.

This one tasted especially good as I used it to help celebrate a drubbing of the hapless Cowboys tonight in the NFL. This is a strong rich good bock. Dark orangish brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of alcohol, fruitcake, malt and caramel. Rich palate that is all at once sugary, chocolaty, roasted but then it peters out just a bit at the end. Loved it but probably not the best of the style.

Appears a transparent crimson with a cherrywood hue. Medium amounts of CO2 bubbles slowly rise to the top of the creamy, ivory head that has fades into a filmy cap. Scattered streaks of lace are left around the glass. Smell is of toffee, vanilla, roasted nuts, cocoa, and sugary caramel. Super nice with light booziness. Taste is of the same, rich, well blended aromas. This is a nice treat via Germany. Mouthfeel is super smooth, creamy, sugary, medium bodied, along with a velvet balance that glides along the palate. Drinkability...what a treat. I had Matt Capone (BA capones) special order this b/c I’ve never seen it in the SE PA market for some reason. No wonder it’s such a rare treat...it gets gobbled up whenever it comes around.

16.9 oz bottle - Pours dark brown with a thick, billowy head. The very nice aroma has roast caramel malt and plum. Loads of sweet caramel malts give it a nice full body and some dark fruit notes lend some complexity to the taste. There’s a hint of mild hops bitterness in the finish that with the roast flavors put me in mind of coffee just a little bit. I definitely enjoyed this beer. They’ve really nailed the style.

A very sweet malt aroma. Dark brown beer with a medium head. A sweet dark bread, raisin taste with a very weak mouthfeel, watery. Average Dobblebock.

0.5L bottle. Brown color with thin tan head. Aroma is full with sweet molasses, caramel, sweet dark fruit and vanilla. Great malt flavor which is much like the aroma. There is sweet molasses and caramel as well as brown sugar, dates, a light nuttiness backed up with a hint of hops biting around the edges. I’m left with a somewhat sweet malty aftertaste.

Beer pours a dark brown with hints of orange gleaming through. The head is thick and off-white, but disappears quickly. The aroma is malt, malt, malt, malt, malt. It smells like malt extract (which you’ve smelled if you’ve ever homebrewed). There is some caramel, candied dates, and hints of pecans - but mostly sweet, cakey malts. The flavor is not as one-dimensional - it starts off sweet and malty but with a presence of hop bitterness and a very subtle hop flavor. There is also a toasted bread flavor creeping in around the middle. The overall flavor evokes bready desserts (like baklava - even down to the hints of honey and nuts) and fruit (dates, figs), with strong caramel flavors, too. The finish is sweet, but gently hoppy with an after-taste that leans much more towards bitter hops than malts. The mouthfeel is quite heavy - and the beer hits the stomach like a rock (very filling). Not bad, and certainly characteristic of the style, but not the best doppelbock I’ve had.

Dark malty brown with thin off-white head. Aroma is malty with a bit of grass. Taste is richly sweet with a grapey finish. Not bad at $2.60/16.9 oz

500ml bottle pours Dark brown with a pretty fair tan head that stays well and laces the sides of the glass. Aromas of caramel, and toasted malts, some nutty aroma as well. Flavor is caramel, nuts, roasted malts, yeast, and some raisins. Smooth creamy texture. Not bad..

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2008 500 ml bottle. Deep brown garnet tinted colour with a beautiful light brown head. Beautiful malty aroma, toast and lightly burnt sugar over a delicious cherry fruitiness. Toasted malt and a lightly spicy hoppiness. Flavour is very similar to the aroma with deep sweet decocted complexity. Toasted nuts, brown sugar, molasses and a soft herbal flavour.
