A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2005 I enjoyed this dopplebock immensly. Pours a dark brown with small white head, aroma is terrific, perhaps one of the better ones out there. Flavor was pleasant, although kind of one-dimensional. Loads of alcohol hidden in this one. More than one would think. Overall i enjoyed it.

Tap At Andy’s. This was in no way labelled as being a Weihenstephaner, Just "Korbinian Double Bock" written up on the board. Very dark and having that rich thick flavor that makes doppelbocks so good

Dark rubyred, creamy head. Aroma is very malty, sweet. Taste contains largely the same, combined with dark fruits (prunes and raisins). Finish is warming, slightly alcoholic. Another great Doppelbock.

(500ml bottle) Aroma of dates, soya sauce, whiskey and bread. Thin, white creamy hed with a mahogany body. Very bready notes with undertones of soy and lots of caramel malt. Many thanks to Andre

Bottle pours a deep burnt orange, somewhat brownish, large off-white foamy head, with sticky lacing.   Lots of soy on the nose, along with a bready, dark pitted fruit aroma.   Quite bready on the tongue, malty, with that unsalted soy I got in the aroma.   Quite unique for a Doppelbock.   The dark pitted fruit doesn’t show up as much in the flavor as I had thought by the aroma.   Body and mouthfeel are somewhat average.   I can tell the body is wanting to be more, or at least I wished it was.   Finishes very bready/malty in a whole wheat sorta way.   Somewhat tasty, and definately different.

Bottle at Fall Beerfest In Toronto 2004. Deep brown in colour. Aroma of raisins, malts, plums, ginger and quite sweet. Flavour was of raisins, malt, spices, slightly sweet. Medium body, high carbonation. Finishes rather light for a dopplebock.

Pours dark and with minimal, quickly diminishing head. Aroma is vineous and sweet with a hint of silage. Flavor is flat, sweet, molasses-filled but lacking the prune/raisin goodness of a solid doppelbock. Raw and underdeveloped with no deep complexity. Otherwise, reasonably good. Certainly has the taste of a Weihenstephan beer.

Good quite-standard Bavarian double bock. Delectable appearance, pouring with a king-size head, the Dirk Diggler of head. The rest is pretty well what you’d expect from a quality German double bock. Bready. Check out a non-German but highly similar treatment, the Birra Moretti La Rossa (classified as Bock but not much difference). Some time back, I had rated that one a 3.8 and drew a comparison to this one....

Dusty floral tea aroma from cherry-coke colored body. Tastes of vanilla-honey malt liquor; sweet malty, and desserty--most coming through on or directly after the swallow. Nutty and herbal. Interesting, but a bit complicated (without being complex).

Bottle. Reddish amber in color. Off-white head with decent lacing. Malty and spicey aroma. Medium bodied. Tasty.
