A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

Pint bottle, poured into a tulip glass at room temperature. A: Pours into the glass the color of mahogany wood or very, very dark cherry wood. Shining an iPhone light through the beer reveals bright red highlights, and columns of bubbles. The head forms a bit over a finger thick of pale beige, with good retention. Lacing may as well be a sheet of bubbles permanently etched into the glass. S: Rich, bready caramel-toffee malt scents, wreathed with hints of chocolate. There’s what seems to be a bit of dark fruit in the nose as well. T: Warm, yeasty dark bread fills the mouth from the first sip. Some sweet toffee slithers along the sides of the bread through the middle, and some notes of walnut and cooked raisin waft through background of the flavor palate beside a faint cocoa tinge. By the finish, there is a distinct note of hardwood, like oak or maple. No hop presence to speak of, which is perfect. M: While full and sticky, the mouthfeel is surprisingly not quite as thick for a doppelbock as I would hope, feeling closer to a bock. O: This is a beautiful doppelbock example, a tour de malt with virtually zero hop flavors involved. A little additional dark fruit complexity to the flavor profile, and a slightly thicker mouthfeel, and this would approach perfect 5 territory for me.

Dark brown with a light brown head. Malty aroma. Malt taste with some notes of spice. Very smooth mouth feel. Great beer!

Slight aroma. Color is as black as coffee. Smooth taste with a rich almost chocolate finish. Minimal foam/head at the top of the beer. Very good beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Niet echt een topbiertje. Het is wel een dubbelbock. Weinig schuim op het bier wat toch wel jammer is. Al met al niet een biertje waar ik snel voor in de rij zal gaan staan.

Deep roasted malt aroma that’s intoxicating. Rich mahogany body with an off white head that lingers nicely. More roasted malt on the taste buds that feel smooth and rich. Sweet caramel background. Also has crisp feel to it too.

All malt. Creamy body with tons of roasted chocolate and sweet caramel with a hint of dark plum underneath. Subtle warm bread and wood show through the finish with little to no hop presence, but this is very smooth, warming and rich.

Vol donker bier.
