A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

Cloudy, and dark brown. With a big creamy head. Aromas of malt, caramel, toast, and nuts are predominant, such as walnuts or hazelnuts. Some fruity notes are also seen, although more hidden. Malt and caramel tastes, accompanied by hints of burnt sugar, nuts, chocolate.

Very creamy long lasting head. Malty aroma, hints of banana, raisins, roasted bread. Excellent alcohol masking, light to medium body, low carbonation, sweet warm finish. Taste is also very sweet, with licorice, caramel.

Pour is very deep mohagany with a sizeable, but quickly dissipating head. Takes on the appearance of beautiful dark marble when swirled in the glass. Aroma is roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet upfront with malt and bittersweet chocolate. Just enough carbonation for a little tingle with each sip. Most beautiful looking beer I have had, but a bit too sweet. Very good, though it would have been even better with a little more age on it.

Sweet. Nutty. Lingering body. Excellent beer for its high malt character. Overall very well balanced.

For my 1000th review on rate beer, I found the notes to this beautiful brew. I poured this into a weizen glass. The appearance was a dark murky brown almost close to black, but it had a nice settling off white to white foamy head that allows a nice dissipation at a nice pace. The smell had a deep dark chocolate to banana maltiness invading my nose powerfully. The taste was allocated well between the chocolate malts and the banana esters to produce an indulgent dessert-like flavoring. There is a nice chocolate banana like aftertaste with a quick dry finish. On the palate, it sits about a medium on the body with a decent carbonation for its style and comes across well to me. Sessionability - maybe, but for me I tend to find this one more as a sipper and well worthy of a dessert in and of itself. Overall, hmmm...I think I said what I needed to say other than don’t pass this up if you see it. Such a wonderful brew!

Aroma is smoky, fruity, bread. Very dark ruby-brown when poured, with a thin, fading, light brown head. Taste is very malty, with bananas, caramel, coffee and citrus coming through, also a smokiness that is in no way acrid. Everything going on here is balanced perfectly. Palate is heavy, smoky sweet but not clingy. Excellent offering for this style, excellent price!

Poured from bottle. Dark brown offset with cream colored head. Aroma is fruit cake, toffee and raisins, washed in ash. Taste is buttered pumpernickel toast, molasses and candied fruits. Everything here points to the malts. Creamy mouthfeel. Enjoyed.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe [020514]
Dark chestnut brown, big frothy beige head
Aroma of caramel, yeast, slight spicy hops, sweet malts
Taste of sweet fruity caramel malts, slight spicy hops, touch of toffee, alcohol well hidden, straightforward malty beer
Palate - soft carb, medium body, oily, fairly sweet. Finish as main flavour, smooth sweet malts, slight toasted bitterness
Overall - Nice enough
