A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

Bottle at the Fiddler, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is yeast, sweet malt, light fruit. The flavour is light sweet with a roasted malt liqourice bitter, earthy mineral, light alcohol palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Aromas of fruity esters, raisins, plums, some nuttiness, hints of chocolate, toast. Clear ruby with burnt orange highlights, and a mostly fading head. Initially malty and fruity, balanced by delicate earthy hops in the finish. Light-medium bodied, sticky.

Dark yellow brown pour. Aroma of milk caramel, toffee, acetate, trippel, hay. Tastes straight of the the feedbag; oats. Sweet. Alcohol bite on the palate and some creaminess. Very loud flavor. Spritz carb dry finish elevates it above other doppels.

Bottle Pours very dark ruby red with a huge foamy head that fades very slowly and leaves a little lacing. Complex aroma of burnt dark bread, cherries, dark fruit, smoked meat, brown sugar, and a late hint of banana. Tastes good but not as good as the aroma. Comes off surprisingly watery. Very fruity with cherries and dark fruit, light raisin, light banana. Salty smoked meat in the finish. Medium body. Slight overcarbonation for my liking. Very good doppledock.

500 ml bottle at home. Pours caramel brown in color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted bread, caramel, some dark fruit character, brown sugar, earthy notes, smooth, solid classic style doppelbock.

Roasty, a bit coffee note from it, but sharp roastiness with very little yeast aroma except aftertaste with some leathery earthy taste, quite good mouthfeel, very creamy, medium, a bit of licorice in the end.

BB 24.12.14. Poured a near opaque ruby brown colour with a two- to three-finger tan frothy head that diminished quickly (compared to other Weihenstephaner beers tasted recently) to a collar. Laced OK as spots and rings. Carbonation moderate to high. Aroma very subtly of sweet malt with a hint of sweet fruit; quite sweet. Taste quite sweet maltiness initially with a hint of sweet fruits but no hops bitterness evident Alcohol well hidden. Medium body. Smooth, clean and with a slightly sweet finish (not as sweet as the Tradition Bayrisch Dunkel).

Pours very dark brown to black with a thick khaki head that settles slowly to a thick ring and leaves some spotty lace. Nose involves dark chocolate, toasted malt, savory meat, dark dried fruit, some spice. Fairly sweet, decently bitter. Lighter medium body, active, crisp, finishing long with savory and toasted notes. If it’s possible for a doppelbock to be refreshing, this is refreshing. It also has lots to ruminate over, and is quite enjoyable.
