There are also notes of roast nuts and a touch of chocolate. The neer is the deepest brown with a fading fizzy head. The taste is sweet with only a mild touch of bitterness. The beer is full bodied and very smooth. Fantastic.

Deliciously sweet flavor with a little bit of smokey flavor. This is a great beer for a cool day or as a dessert beer. One of my favorite Weihenstephan beers.

Appears dark Burgundy in colour with a voluminous orange-cream coloured head. Gorgeous, full chocolately aromas with dates and carob (I hate carob). It is like taking a sniff of a chocolate cake with dark fruits in it. Utterly more-ish and I wish I could share this with my beloved mother who adores such things. The flavour is marked first by prickly sharp carbonation and then sharp astringent juiciness. It wasn’t what I was expecting at all, not to say that I am disappointed. It has a just-ripening plumminess about it and then it sucks the liquid out of your mouth revealing tart redcurrant, raspberry and rhubarb. This mellows somewhat into dates, red apples, unripe apricot and thin treacle. An intriguing beer not for the faint of heart. A second taste uncovers chocolate and dusty cocoa. What an intrigue.

Draft at Bierstube. One of the best Dobbelbocks I have had. Silky black pour. Lasting foamy off-white head. Rotted pit fruit. Heather. Burnt Challah bread. Molasses. Cloves. Toffee. Sugar plums. Tootsie Rolls. Dark and juicy. Thick and sweet. Great stuff.

Dobry, smaczny i tresciwy ciemny podwojny kozlak. Czerwone odcienie i bezowa trwala piana. Karmelowy smak i nuta rodzynek orzecha i sliwki suszonej. Aromat gozdzikowo karmelowy. Smak pelny. Piwo bardzo tresciwe i troche ciezkie. Alkohol niewyczuwalny. Receptura klasztorna dopieszczona do perfekcji. Polecam.

Cerveza muy oscura, con una densa corona de espuma. Olor afrutado. Sabor acaramelado, malteado, café, regaliz. Gran cuerpo y a pesar de no tener una muy alta graduación el alcohol está presenten en cada sorbo.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 wildbeercat (118) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - APR 27, 2013
16.9 fl oz / 500mL bottle into a glass mug. Served chilled.
Aroma: Caramel, malt, maybe a little sweet milk chocolate. The smell reminds me of the Cadbury caramel eggs, but it’s nowhere near that sweet-smelling. It’s just pretty strong caramel and malt.
Appearance: Very dark. Only translucent when held up to the light, where it’s revealed that this beer is truly a dark ruby red. Tan head that dissipates into nothing.
Taste: Sweet malt and caramel. Maybe just the tiniest hint of cream.
Palate: Creamy and smooth. Coats the palate, and flavors linger a little bit. You can feel the alcohol presence: this one warms quite a bit. Personally, I like a little more subtlety.
Overall: Pretty great doppelbock. Not a whole lot of diversity as far as flavors go. The Devastator by Wasatch definitely had a lot more flavors in it. This one is quite good though.
