3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Color is deep red. Low head retention and some light carbonation. Smells malty and astringent with some stewed fruits. Flavor is malty with a sweet start and an astringent finish. Palate is surprisingly light for such a high gravity beer. Man, I guess I am jaded, but this just seems to be variations on the same theme – a good beer but did not knock my socks off.

A red so dark it’s almost black, with a fine tan head. Aromas of toasted caramel and prunes, with a touch of smoke. Rich-bodied and seriously roasty, dry-bitterness that almost but not quite balances the sweetness. Burnt toffee and a hint of gravy. Liquorice, toffee and a herbal bitterness in the finish.

500 ml bottle
Reddish brown clear beer with blonde head with lacing. Aroma has creamy toffeey and molassey sweetness with light roastiness and some nuts. Flavor is sweet with toffee, lightly roasted, herbal and nutty. Palate is medium full with quite heavy carbonation. Finish has mild bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with toffee and molasses, as well as lightly roasted and herbally bitter. Quite OK for the style.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Botella. Color rojizo muy oscuro.
Aroma no muy destacado, predominando cereal tostado y pasas.
En boca gran presencia de caramelo. Resulta muy cremosa con un final ligeramente amargo. Bastante equilibrada.
El medio litro ha caído rápido...

Aroma has a sweetness - hint of plum. Pours chocolate brown with a cream head. Teriffic lacing. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, slight chocolate. Creamy texture. This sets the bar for what I expect a dopplebock to be.

Great dopplebock. Sweet and malty without being too sweet. Really, really well balanced. Initial aroma is strongly banana as a wheat beer should. Two fingers of foam, which then suppresses the aroma. Plenty of flavours and mostly caramel but a variety of other tastes are present. Hard to find in Brisbane, but worth the hunt on a cold winter’s night. Perfect with any toffee flavoured desert like sticky date pudding.

Draught @ Waterfront Ale House. Dark brown with small creamy beige head, caramel aroma, sweetish mocha taste, balanced full body, longish mocha finish. Very suave and sophisticated brew.

Ich hatte etwas mehr Hoffnung in den Korbinian gesetzt, der mit Weizen und etwas Rosinen glänzt. Ein bisschen muffig, etwas fruchtig, ganz ok.
