COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

Appears dark Burgundy in colour with a voluminous orange-cream coloured head. Gorgeous, full chocolately aromas with dates and carob (I hate carob). It is like taking a sniff of a chocolate cake with dark fruits in it. Utterly more-ish and I wish I could share this with my beloved mother who adores such things. The flavour is marked first by prickly sharp carbonation and then sharp astringent juiciness. It wasn’t what I was expecting at all, not to say that I am disappointed. It has a just-ripening plumminess about it and then it sucks the liquid out of your mouth revealing tart redcurrant, raspberry and rhubarb. This mellows somewhat into dates, red apples, unripe apricot and thin treacle. An intriguing beer not for the faint of heart. A second taste uncovers chocolate and dusty cocoa. What an intrigue.

Pours dark brown with reddish highlights. Thick beige head dissipates quickly. Aroma is malt, nuts, roast. On the palate, there’s malt, malt and more malt, with bread, toffee, nuts, roast. It’s not a particularly complex range, but it works well. A medium body and smooth carbonation, with the alcohol very subdued, makes this a very easy drinking doppel bock.

Big boozy and malty, sweet, caramel, toffee, syrup aroma. Nice color and head. Flavor is roast, brown sugar, chocolate. A little more subdued than the aroma anticipated, but really tasty, and not too sweet. Good stuff.

Good doppelbock. Slightly boozy, slightly sweet, lots of flavor hanging out on the palate. Roasted nuts a sticky caramel. Not the best doppelbock I’ve ever had, but certainly a great example of the style.

One of the best beers I have ever had. An excellent Dopplebock and it nails every category: Aroma, Appearance, Taste, Palate and the Overall.

Bottle. Pours a dark brownish ruby red, thick off white smooth non-lasting head. Aroma is of dark fruits, golden syrup, milk chocolate. Taste is slightly bitter, dark fruits, burnt brown sugar, light hint of chocolate. Alcohol isn't noticeable at all. Medium body, medium carbonation. Nice

On tap at Cafe Berlin in Washington, DC. Opaque, near black with a 2-finger khaki head and very good lacing. Aroma of raisins, caramel, vanilla, cherries, cookie dough and dates. Taste of toffee, raisins, chocolate, cookie dough, cherries, vanilla and dates. Medium body and medium/high carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from total wine at landmark VA. Not much head and v little aroma. Dark cola color but not opaque. First impression is of sweet raisins and malt w vanilla and caramel. Aftertaste mellows a bit with some herbaceous notes but still sweet w some bitterness coming through. Almost syrupy mouth feel. A bit disappointing. I was expecting more based on overall ratings. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
