A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2012 This is my type of doppelbock. A wheat doppelbock at that. What I am learning about Doppelbocks (in general) is that many places don’t view it the same as what I, Ayinger, Weihenstephaner, Spaten, et al. do. Many so called doppelbocks are nothing more than slightly hearty bocks...if that. This is a great example of how to make a wheat version.

Enjoyed multiple times. Lots of toffee, dried fruit and cake character, yet very smooth and balanced, fairly dry finish. Love it, a true German classic!

Bottle at home. Pours pitch black with medium sized tanned head. Aroma has dark fruits, caramel malts and alcohol. Full bodied with lively carbonation. Heavy sweetness, light to medium bitterness.

Bottled. pours fairly dark brown, borderline black, tan head. Aroma is vanilla, fig (very figgy), toffee, dark fruit, I’d call it prune. Flavor is wow, fig, toffee, prune, sugar. Really nice. I haven’t had this one in a while, and honestly, I’m happy to revisit it. Really good doppelbock.

Nagy, tömör, bézs, tartós hab, sötétbarna szín. Édeskés, karamelles illat. Íze édes, karamelles, enyhe keserűvel és mérsékelt szénsavassággal. Testes, jól összerakott, finom sör.

Pours black, slightly translucent with a small tan head. Sweet malty aroma with plenty of brown sugar and syrup. Taste is very malty, lots of bread, quite sweet. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Pretty good beer.

Bottle. Thanks Davido. Nice Belgian almost aroma, nice maltiness, chocolate cocoa, ovaltine. Taste is more fruity, smooth, brown and rich. Wheaty. Definitive Dubbel character. (what on earth was that supposed to mean?)

Bottle @ home, split two ways. Murky brownish pour with a huge head. Notes of overripe fruits, bananas, caramel and some yeasty notes.

Bottle shared. Thanks Davido! To steal Neil’s words "like a Westmalle dubbel" on the nose and palate really. Slight Belgian yeast notes and cookie malts. Light chocolate. The Belgian character about it adds something a little more to it than most doppelbocks. Very enjoyable.

Delicious dopplebock that pours to an impressive tan head, releasing a full aroma of plums, caramel, freshly turned earth and alcohol. Finish is both dry and sweet and fruity. Another great beer from an excellent brewery.
