3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 5, 2004 Poured a kristal clear, light golden color with a large white head and also left some nice lacing on the glass. Spicy banana is certainly the #1 aspect of this aroma, also followed by a sweet wheat characteristic. Light lemon citrus taste, nice sweetness, lightly spiced. Certainly the type of beer that would refresh you. I did not have high expectations for this, yet I was pleasantly surprised by this brew. Rerate: I had this tonight after a wit, and caramel bananas is what comes to mind.

Pours pale yellow with a thick lasting head with great lacing. Aroma of spice, yes there is banana, and also a lemony zesty flavor. Very good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is an easy to drink wheat beer with some pleasing flavors, but it is still kind of a simple offering in my opinion. Has your typical notes of banana and spices, but the mouthfeel was a bit more watery than your normal hefeweizen. Nice, crystal-clear apperance.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Pale gold body, full frothy white head. Quite a crunchy taste, clean aroma of rising dough. Real bubblegum flavour, sweet fruit rather than any individual flovour shining through. Settles down with a spicy clove finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear gold, that perfect head that you expect in a Weihenstephaner beer. Aroma is fillled with yeast phenols of bubblegum, clove, and banana, very nice. A bit of a bite on the palate. Flavors match those of the yeast, along with a very light wheat flavor. Lacking the complexity of the regular hefe, but still a wonderful little beer.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Spicy colves and banana, estery and phenolic, bread-like yeast aroma. Crystal clear with good carbonation and large white head that reduces to cover fairly rapidly. Grainy flavour followed by cloves and banana. Cereal malt dominates. Very highly carbonated. Light body. Bottle (sampled with CapFlu and MartinT).

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.5 l bottle. Clear golden with a white lasting head. Aroma is of banana and malt. Malty flavor with hints of banana and clove. This is a good hot day brew, but not as satisfying as hefes.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle 06.09.04 Yet another pretty, clear, golden brew from Germany...if nothing else, their beers are spectacular to behold. Big, brainy head. Nice bready aroma. Hints at dough, clove, honey, and light citrus, as well as banana. Flavors are savory with a bit of lemon. Touched of coriander, cane sugar. Very coating mouthfeel, wet, tart. Reminds of a hybrid hefe/pilsnener. Would like it drier on finish, but it’s an interesting style. I can imagine it would be smashing with spicey foods.

(500ml Bottle) Pours a large, white head with a clear gold body. Nose of yeast, bananas and cloves. Clean banana and bubblegum flow across the palate. Sharp and dry. Good. Thanks to Rudge75 for this offering.
