COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The source of its pearling, effervescent taste is the secret fermentation process which we have developed especially for our crystal wheat beer. It quenches your thirst like no other beer. With its elegant appearance, it is the speciality of our brewery. Goes well with fish, seafood and light dishes.

Pours a slightly clearer golden yellow colour with a huge frothy white head. Aroma is pretty much banana with cloves and spice, a little faint though. Taste is moderately sweet throughout with a little more bitterness than the hefeweizen. Light body, decent carbonation and a thin mouth feel. An exceptionally good hefeweizen.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color with strong carbonation and a tall white head. The aroma was malts, citrus and banana while the flavor was spice, biscuit and banana. Very good.

Bottle. Golden pour, white head. Aroma of grain, yeast, banana and wheat. Taste has lots of that typical German banana yeast and some sweet wheat. Simple, but drinkable.

The Kristallweizen in this renowned series, with an obviously cristal clear, pure golden blonde colour with a fierce whirlpool of bubbles rising up from the bottom, like champagne; they support a big, frothy, snow white, rocky and flowery head. Looks truly stunning. Aroma expectedly has a lot of sourish wheat, a bit sourdough-like, along with soap, white bread, fresh banana, cloves, vanilla ice cream, white grape peel, red apple. Taste is softly fruity, notably sweet, with a big presence of banana flavour (more than in any other Kristallweizen I had so far), spicy yeast notes, minerally carbonation sparkling on the tongue, deep and elegant wheat sourishness which, together with the strong carbo, dries the mouth a bit; mouthfeel is smooth, supple and a bit oily. Underneath the banana and the wheat, a very pleasant, soft bready maltiness provides structure. The finish continues the wheat sourishness and barley sweetishness, which keep lingering in the throat, but a leafy íbackgroundí hop bitterishness is added too, for structural purposes. I prefer Hefeweizen over Kristallweizen but in this style, this is surely among the most well-balanced examples Iíve had. Has more fruit (banana) flavour than usual and finds perfect balance between its different flavour components. Weihenstephaner quality standard, Iíd even regard this as the archetypical example of its style.

chinchill (2769) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 6, 2015
500 ml bottle with a BB date of 11 Dec. 2015. Pours light golden with excellent clarity and a high level of visible carbonation flowing up to an over-sized, frothy head. The aroma features banana and clove with a light bready base. The flavor follows. O: Not a favored style; even so, not as great for style as expected.

Poured into a weizen glass. 3.5 A: Clear medium yellow color. Big ass 4+ finger pillowy white head. Retention is very good, but only a few whisps of lacing are left. 4.0 S: This smells like the regular hefe without the yeast component. Lots of clove, then more clove, then clove, then peppery spiciness. Neutral wheatiness. Itís missing something without the yeastiness, but itís still pretty damn good. 3.5 T: Like the nose, the taste is missing that integral part of what makes the hefe so good. Clove, neutral wheat, and pepper. A few hints of banana. Again, still good, but not world class. 3.5 M: Medium body. Good carbonation despite the massive head. This lacks the creaminess that the regular has. 3.5 D: If you havenít noticed the theme yet, this is a shell of itís normal hefe self. Itís still a pretty damn good shell, but I donít see a reason to ever buy this if the hefe is available.

This is excellent yellow beer. The aroma absolutely bursts with notes of malt, hops, and spice in a very Belgian-like presentation. The taste continues this trend, splitting the difference between a pilsner and a helles with some Belgian qualities again. The palate is medium bodied with a note of spice at the end. Perhaps the greatest lager I have tasted.

Pours a clear straw yellow with a thick creamy head. Sweet, spicy and yeasty aroma. Banana, spice, caramel malt flavours. Slight bitterness. Medium mouth feel. A good wheat beer.

Bottle. Pours golden clear with a big foamy white head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is of wheat, malt, spice, and banana. Taste is of wheat, banana, and bready malt. Has a fair amount of spiciness as well. Lingering spicy taste with lots of banana. Mouthfeel is light and very carbonated. Easy to drink, it tastes good, and I liked it.
