COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A good beer takes its time. The long storage makes our yellow bright lager, “Original”, a flavourful beer enjoyed with fine poured, white foam. With a mild hoppy note and its pleasant fresh spicy taste, it goes very well with salads, poultry, stews or with a hearty snack. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Formerly known as "Weihenstephaner Original Bayrisch Mild (Premium)".

Pours a pale gold color with a two finger width head. It has that sweet aroma of grassy hops, biscuity malts or whatever.. It has a heavier body than I’d anticipated. I would have expected this to be a very light body, but it’s more of a medium body. The taste reminds me of a lot of other german lagers/pilsners. It has that typical German hoppy taste (which I guess is Saaz, Noble or whatever).

Grass aroma. Sweetish, some metallic bitterness in the finish. Bland and boring, like so many brews from Weihenstephan. Is it the most overrated German brewery? Probably. Not saying that this style isn’t boring per se, but this one takes boring to a whole new level. The Helles from Ayinger for example managed to have a pleasant and appealing taste. This one doesn’t even achieve that.

Pours light yellow to pale gold with moderate white head. Grassy aroma with notes of lemon. Malty flavor, minimally sweet with very mild, dry metallic aftertaste with mild bitterness. Sweetness more pronounced as it warms. Light-medium body with light carbonation. Overall excellent Helles lager, very drinkable.

Clean, no off flavors, crisp noble hop aroma, pilsner malt presence, high carbonation especially for an import.

Clean pale golden color, big white head. Aroma of malt, grain and grass. Sweet dry taste, lightly bitter finish and grainy aftertaste. Thin body and lively carbonation. Decent beer for easy drinking.

0,5L bottle (as Weihenstephaner Original Helles from Stockmann, Tallinn), BB 01.12.15. Pours clear golden with white-ish head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, grainy, malt, metallic notes in the background. Flavor is sweet, malt, some fruity notes, some bitterness, grains. Overall: not a fan of the style, but for some odd reason I enjoy this one.
