COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A good beer takes its time. The long storage makes our yellow bright lager, “Original”, a flavourful beer enjoyed with fine poured, white foam. With a mild hoppy note and its pleasant fresh spicy taste, it goes very well with salads, poultry, stews or with a hearty snack. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Formerly known as "Weihenstephaner Original Bayrisch Mild (Premium)".

Not one to care too much about aromas but this one’s was a bit of a rough, grassy slightly skunky smell, typical of lagers. Appearance, slightly cloudy dark yellow with one finger head. Taste is wonderful bready smooth malts with a lasting peppery hop finish. Light and slightly bitter on the palate, this helles is a bit more hoppy than most. Overall, smooth as a baby’s behind and alarmingly easy to drink, so well balanced and great on a hot day or after sports. A great session lager but I highly recommend not drinking other beers while your sessioning with this as other beer tastes could ruin your appreciation for this lager’s great balance and subtlety. The best lager in the world in my opinion.

goldgelb, etwas blass, klar mit weißem Schaum. Süßlich getreidig-malzig, erinnert etwas an milden Honig. Insgesamt ein mildes, süffiges Alltagsbier ohne Schwächen.

Keg at BD Camden. It pours clear yellow - gold with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh white bread, cereal, straw, grass, lager maltage and perhaps a touch of ginger. The taste is crisp, clean, grassy, light floral, straw, touch of spice, white bread and lemon peel with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation.A quality and chuggable lagerbier.

0.5l bottle. Clear golden body, white head. Aroma and taste of bread, grains, hay and a tiny bit of spicy hops. A typical helles, not more but not less either.

Keg at Brewdog Camden. A clear golden colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of grain, bready malts, slight pepper and some spicy, grassy hops. Taste of grain, bready malts, slight lemon and subtle spicy hops. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. A sweet, soft, bready malt bitterness in the finish. Decent aroma with some hop presence but kind of lost in the taste. Isn’t exciting and typically German but it’s decent and drinkable.

Pint on-tap at Brewdog Glasgow (£4.30):
Great stuff from Weihenstephan, apparently it’s not only wheat beers that they know how to brew well. A very well balance beer that’s crowning glory was how simple & drinkable it was. Everything went together well to make an excellent lager; there was good balance between the sweet touches, grassy hops & the bitterness with nothing seeming to dominate & everything going down easily. A classic helles beer & one that I’d definitely go for again.

Bottle. Straw yellow body, small head. Aroma has white bread crust and slightly spicy but generally unassuming German hops. Nice clean taste profile with smooth crisp malts resembling white bread. Finish has a well tweaked modest bitterness. A very good classic Helles, not much to add here.

Many thanks for this beer to kevnic2008. Chyba wczesniejsza wersja przed zmiana nazwy mogla by być lepsza. Pozatym to nie mój styl

(Weihenstephaner Original Helles) Bottle 500 ml at home, served into a lager glass, ABV 5.1% Deep golden yellow colour on the body, crystal clear of course, with a small and thick white head on top. Quite good retention. Aroma of fresh grass, light malts, faint hops. Taste of bread, malts, dust, grass. Medium thin body, carbonation on the high side but not annoyingly so. Okay beer.
