Clear pale yellow. Well carbonated, flavorful, and has a nice bite. Had a few of these with a plate of Yaegerschnitel and spatzel. Perfect beer for any German style cuisine.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Hessen Haus during the 2006 Crescent Moon Beer Bus Trip. Spaten is smoother and tastier on tap. Flora aroma. True lager appearance. Palate is a tad harsh. How is it possible that this beer tastes of corn?

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light golden yellow with quite a strong head. Distinctive wheaty aroma matches the slightly spicy wheaty taste with a smooth rounded finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle) Pale golden colour with a mid-sized foamy white head, quickly diminishing but leaving some lace. Freshly poured into the glass it has a dusty, gun-powder nose, later light sweet malty aroma with cake dough and a touch of floral hops. Sweet malty honeyish fruity taste, medium to light bodied, crispy mouthfeel, almost dry bitter fruity finish. Tasty and refreshing.

Tap. Had a pale aroma of grain and bitter. Yellow body with decent white head. A bitter flavored beer with some lemon added. Easy on palate, not to bad of a beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice, classic German lager that does not overpower the palate. This beer can be enjoyed on any occasion. This lager surely outlasts the American brands, and obviously has been around for many centuries (true to their heritage). A lighter German lager to be enjoyed with or without a meal in the afternoon.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: APR 22, 2008 **Highly underrated** Pours bright, pale yellow w/ a full, creamy froth. Good head retention reveals a silky canopy w/ a few spattered islands and a full ring of lace. Aromas of fresh malts and herbs. Medium nectar w/ ample soft residual effers. Texture is close to cream. Flavors are bright, crisp and clean w/ delicious vanilla cream, citrus nectar, and mild herbs. This has got to be the best tasting lager I’ve ever had. The finish has a most excellent bittering component keeping me in the ready for another sip. Overall: flavorful and well balanced with none of the typical skunky flavors present in most lagers. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommended.

Don’t know what to make of this one. Pours a near white with a white head. Looks like it would glow in the dark. Smells lightly of lemons and little else. Taste is maly and somewhat breaddy. Where’d the lemon hints go?

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Decent aroma with artichoke, grain, light hops, a touch of stale bread. Way too pale with not enough head to warrant any kind of decent score for appearance, though champagne style bubbling is nice. Flavor is very dull, with a bread, a touch of artichoke, lots of piss. Palate is very thin and watery with little carbonation.
