COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A good beer takes time. The long lager time makes our pale beer a matter of mild, flavourful beer enjoyment. Brewed in accordance with a centuries-old beer tradition on Weihenstephan Hill.

bottle. poured a very clear yellow gold, aroma of sweet hay malt, initial sweet bready malt taste very round hop taste makes for a pleasant but un complex flavor. nice beer, apparently its been around since 1040 which is pretty cool.

Yellow body with a creamy white head. "German" aroma... reminds me of a few nights of over-imbibing around October. Its mostly a caramelly malt with light hop presence. Taste is a little more bitter, but there is still that sweet malt to back it up. The bitterness gets into a slightly astringent papery thing, almost like licking envelope glue. Not my cup of tea...

Saw this at the beer store today and remembered that I had it some time back. For a German lager, it’s about as standard as it gets, perhaps even moreso than Warsteiner. More soft on the palate, though, more round-feeling in the presentation, a little more sweet. I guess this is the true Original, using the oldest recipe in recorded history.

Pale golden with a full, but quickly dissipating head this brew has a full malty nose with grassy notes. Mouthfeel is slightly chalky and the malt grainy flavor lays on the tongue like a thin blanket. Well balanced. Light and slightly sweet, this is a good session beer.

Pour is yellow with a medium white head...smell is skunky grass...not a lot in the mouth, just a little sweet maltiness...good but a typical example of this style...

Gromit (479) - Port Orchard, Washington, USA - JAN 18, 2005
Pours a light golden color with some head and not much lace. Aroma was skunky, actually. Some malt presense, but that’s about it. Flavor is sweet with some light fruits, but a little grassy. Still good, though. Palate is thicker than I was expecting. Overall it’s pretty good and worth trying.

Pours pale gold with a dissapating head. Aroma is malty sweet with a little apple. Flavor is sweet with a hint of honey. A grassy finish. A little metalic and watery. A nice light lager.

Paid $1.49 for a 12-oz single. Pours very very very pale yellow, no head. Smells sweetly honeylike, but it’s not strong... Flavor is grassy and slightly skunked... but not horribly skunked. Very ordinary.

For it’s style I cannot fault this. Tasted from the bottle this was part of my ’New Year’s Eve German Bier fest’ (very low key). Tasted from the bottle, it poured a golden straw with a loose fluffy white head that grew in the stein and later laced down to the finish. Aroma of malt, sunflower seeds, grass and lemons, mingled in the nose, very balanced. Very clean, as though the liquor were the purest on Earth. Effervescent , but lightly carbonated, like it had been stored for years. Medium bodied, not cloying, and rounded flavours in the mouth. Citrusy, grapefruit and lemons, mixed with malt sweetness in the front and a long zesty aftertaste. Not a demanding beer, but one you could sit on all day, with or without food.
