COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A good beer takes time. The long lager time makes our pale beer a matter of mild, flavourful beer enjoyment. Brewed in accordance with a centuries-old beer tradition on Weihenstephan Hill.

Pours with a slight haze which is not good for a german lager. No head. Slightly sour, malty aroma. The malt flavor that comes through is very good and even though it dominates, the supporting tartness and astringency are what you are left with. Surprisingly unbalanced for a Helles from the "Oldest Brewery In The World."

Label says "original premium". I don’t guess it matters too much since I won’t be drinking this one again. It’s drinkable but not good enough for another. Oh yeah, I forgot the description. How about thin, weak and grassy? Smells musty too.

Pours light canary with medium white head. Aroma of hopcit, slight astringent sour mash, dusty yeast esters. Tastes malty, with hops and a crisp finish. Nothing great here in complexity or balance, but a good lawnmower beer.

Yeah, see this is what you need. Good pale colour with expanding head. Nice malty breadiness on the nose and a similar mouthfeel. It fills the palate and then allows a subtle hit of firm hop and malt character to come through. This is a great brewery.

Beautifully balanced Helles from the world’s oldest brewery. Poured a pale gold colour with a rocky 1cm head that quickly receded but laced well. The zesty aroma showed lemons, piney hops, buttery malt and a hint of dough. Medium bodied. Very malty initially but with grassy hops and peachy fruitiness coming through in the middle. Restrained bitterness. Very fresh in the nose and on the tongue. Superb session drinking. (500ml bottle, Liquor on Parade, best before 26/8/05)

Bright yellow color on the pour with a white head. Lots of carbonation with light dough like aroma. A pretty simple brew not much hop smell or taste. It has a little more body to it than an American Pilsner and a little more taste too. It finishes a little dry and doesn’t outdo itself with taste either.

Good carbonization in a bright yellow beer. Lasting white head and lacing. Light cookie aroma. Sweet but flavour is like a mild pilsener. No strong hops or finish. Very good with a meal.

Labeled ’Original Premium.’ Pours crystal clear golden with sweet grassy aromas. Smells very fresh. In the mouth I get a bit of yeast bite but that is it. Dry on the palate. Ultimately quite bland.

I smell chicken, but that’s dinner. Let me go to the other room. BBQ sauce? No...to the bathroom. Turn the fan on. Aroma of stale dried celery (and this time, it’s not dinner). So, stale dried celery aroma. Mouthfeel is thin sparkling cider, but without the astringency--maintaining the dry finish without the sweet/sour pucker. A touch malty, well-balanced with the hops; the yeast variety blends imperceptibly into the finish. From bottle.

The appearance of this beer when just poured is delightful. Gorgeous golden color with a nice white head. The head quickly disappears leaving only a lacing around the edge of the glass. The flavor of the beer was as clean as can be imagined. A slight citrusy flavor is evident but certainly not in overwhelming quantities. Very enjoyable. The only downside was that about midway through the glass it picked up a bitterness that was unfortunate.
