Weihenstephaner Original Bayrisch Mild

12oz bottle. Pours a very light straw color, completely transparent with a small but fluffy and nice looking white head. Pretty good lacing. Typical Pilsner like aroma. Malty, bready, clean, cereal. Taste is quite light, smooth, clean, quite light bodied with a short finish with just a little bit of cereal grain on the tongue. This is a decent example of the style but there are better out there. This certainly seems more like a Pilsner than a Dortmunder, but what do I know.

Bottle pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a foamy white head. Light, sweet aroma that includes lemon. Sweet flavor as well with just a touch of bitterness along with hints of lemon. Crisp and clean.

Golden in color with some head. Some maltiness and grains in the aroma. The taste has a balance in the hops and the malts. Nothing great.

All in all, one of the better helles lagers youre gonna find widely distributed... Clean flavor, good carbonation, easy drinking, not too much alcohol... Great summertime beer...

[rated 3.13.08] Pours slightly couldy light golden with a nice frothy white head. Great grassy and bready aroma, really crisp and stingy. Wonderful hellas! Maybe a tad sweet but this stuff is excellent. This is my favorite from Weihenstephaner. Very nice light doughiness that compliments the clean fruity hops perfectly. Really drinkable smoothly carbonated body. Bring on spring. Forget the Hefe... this is their best (besides 1809). This is exactly what a hellas should be. 7.4.9.5.17 [Rerate 4.27.09] Pours a clear light golden with large fluffy super white tall foamy head with soapy lacing. Strong grassy aroma, a bit sweet, quite bready, fresh milled malt. Great bready flavor, lightly funky fruity noble hops, fairly sweet cereal. Very easy drinking, not quite as clean as I remember but perhaps this isn’t the freshest bottle. Great mouthful, medium bodied with smooth sparse crisp carbonation. 7.4.8.4.16

Nothing particularly special, but just what I needed. Refreshing, excellent bitterness, lively carbonation.

There was nothing distinctive about this offering. The characteristic I noticed most was a rather grainy flavor that wasn’t that appealing to me. Compared to the quality of their Hefe this one disappointed.
