Commercial Description:
A good beer takes time. The long lager time makes our pale beer a matter of mild, flavourful beer enjoyment. Brewed in accordance with a centuries-old beer tradition on Weihenstephan Hill.

Appearance: The clarity is spectacular. It pours a pale golden color and showcase tremendous carbonation activity. The lacing is spotty and ideal. Smell: This beer has the essence of freshness. What does that mean? I’m not exactly sure how to explain the super fresh cut grain aroma and the sweet malt only added to it. There in a nice light floral hop aroma as well. Taste: Everything about this beer is simple and clean. It is not big and complex in the American style. It is classically simple and tasty making it incredibly sessionable. This must be one of the most thirst quenching lagers I’ve tasted. It is built with a solid malt backbone and sprinkled lightly with a floral hop character. It is as simple as that. The aftertaste lingers on and on with a nice clean dry feel. Mouthfeel: crisp light and very easy this beer is exceptionally crisp and clean with a lip smacking dryness and a tingly finish. Drinkability: If you are looking something complex to analyze this is the wrong choice. If you are looking for a case of a quaffable authentic German Lager to serve at your next cook out this summer there would be few better choices than Weihenstephaner Original. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!

Thanks to Mike Maltbie for this... Appears a hazy, pale gold with a small white head that quickly fades out into a small bubbly collar. Tiny speckles of lace are left around the glass. Smell is of yeasty bread, light caramel, tofee, and candied corn. Taste is of the same aromas with a gentle hoppy citrus. Mouthfeel is light bodied, mildly sweet and like candy with a crisp bite.

Bottle (from Bitter Virtue, BB Mar 07). Mild maltiness and a little herbal hoppiness towards the end. On the whole a bit lacking with insufficient malt character and a slightly grassy unpleasant edge to the hops appearing.

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle that was probably a little bit too cool. Clear light straw color with little head that fades fast. Rather malty aroma with a hint of hoppiness. Drinks very malty and easy. Quite good and drinkable lager.

16.9 oz bottle - Pours light yellow with a moderate, rather rapidly fading head. There’s a mild malt aroma with maybe a hint of citrus. The taste matches the aroma and is also mild, plus I’m picking up some yeasty flavor. The body is moderate, not as thin as I expected from a beer this pale. That’s good. This beer is light and easy to drink. It easily surpasses most of the pale lagers of which we see far too many, but is still not that great.

Clear gold, bubbly white head. Flowery aroma with some malt and hops. Taste is a lager with good maltiness. Good, nothing special.

Light yellow beer. smells fruity, a bit hoppy and a bit skunky. Tastes more maltish, but also a bit lightstruck, some citrussy fruits too. Not bad, and nicely balanced.

Bottle 39F Lager. Light aroma of hops, slight skunk, very light aroma. Very clear light yellow color, with decent white head that leaves a moderate ring and moderate lacing. Good crisp lager taste finishes clean with a slight bitterness, Nicely palanced good taste of mild german hops, with easy drinking light malts. Nice full palate feel, great carbonation, it looks and smells like a light lager but the taste is much bigger and the feel is much fuller. A nice lager good and very easy drinking. Ganz Gut.
