Skidds (252), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jan 20, 2009 Poured a clear gold with a decent (for a lager) white head. Grassy and hoppy on the nose with a hint of citrus and sweet malts. Quite balanced in flavour. A very good/safe beer. Though, I definately credit Weihenstephaner more for their Wheat beers than lagers. hayduke (1619), Eureka, California, USA Jan 18, 2009 From BevMo costing $2.69. This poured a clear yellow with a fat white head and nice lacing. Nose of citrus, grassy hops, and and some caramel malts. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is malty and the finish is lightly biter and dry. Odyn (205), New York, USA Jan 10, 2009 Sort of a yeasty/schmaltzy aroma that has hints of bread. Pale yellow in color with a slight citrus taste and lingering straw notes. Fairly drinkable, with a grassy finish. quite pleasant. tarheels86 (703), Washington DC, USA Dec 30, 2008 500 mL. Pours a clear, pale yellow with a thin white head that dissipates to a thin layer. Aroma is of lemon zest, pilsner malt, fresh grass, and straw. Taste is similar to a macro pale lager but better balanced with the noble hops. Lots of mouth coating and ends with a dry, cardboard, acidic finish. A good lager. michael-pollack (2601), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2008 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of noble hops, light lemon, vegetables, and herbs. Poured gold in color with a small white head that diminished slowly. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of noble hops, light lemon, slight citrus, vegetables, and slight grass. Light to medium body. Tingly then dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Lightly bitter, hop and lemon finish is dry. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Nov 27, 2008 Updated: Nov 29, 200833cl bottle. Clear gold with a moderate head. The aroma hit me as a bit light-struck initially, but that soon cleared, showing a marked spicy hop aroma, with underlying honey sweetness. The flavor is fat, malty body, with perfect balancing hop spice. Simple, yet perfectly balanced. Light-medium bodied with medium carbonation. One of the best of the style that I’ve had, though I’m seldom in the mood for it. (3.5)
rerate: malts are a bit empty. Varying degrees of staleness. Still good hop balance. A bit papery. I would kill to have this on tap in Freising; I just don’t think old sixers at bevmo are doing it justice. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2008 clear golden in color with a medium well retaining head. Aroma of some noble hops, as well as bready pils malt. Taste is bready pils malt, dry, with some noble hop flavor and bitterness. Sweetness is very slight, body is light and easy drinking. Nice helles. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a crystal clear yellow with a 3 finger rocky snow white head and spotty lacing. Nose is grassy hops and sweet malt. Taste is more grass, malt, wheat and some light hops with a pilsner-esque finish. Medium mouth feel. Decent sessionable beer.
